Usual B&W from me.
I thought I would be getting something that I really liked from this image but was not to be 
I think my mistake was to change what I was trying to do part way through. I started trying to create high key dreamlike effect but then decided to change it to a more mysterious theme and then got fed up 
Anyway here it is with the title
Mystery
Hmmm - think I should have cropped a fair chunk off the right hand side too in order to focus more attention on the footprints
Ahh well one day .......

Pauline,
This effect was done with a template created by Susan, a former EV member, which she then shared with the members.
1. Copy/paste your image on the Folded Shape layer. Or use the File>Place command.
2. Use Free Transform to resize/reposition your image so that it covers the template.
3. Clip the Image layer to the Folded Shape layer underneath it. (Shortcut - Ctrl-G, Cmmd-G on a Mac).
4. If the effect is too intense, reduce the opacity on the top layer, the one with the mask. Or do a Levels adjustment. (Ctrl-L, Cmmd-L on a Mac).
NOTE: Please, if you use this template, give credit where credit is due -- Susan.

Simone....I like the moody look that you have achieved with the gradient....
Chris...my first impression when I looked at your B/W was ...."Oh I like that!" Hope you feel better when you look at it again. Sometimes we are our toughest critics!
Sepiana....I had forgotten all about that template! Works well with this picture....and thanks fo sharing the file and directions!
Sydney....Great idea!
Mike....love your pirates and great job with the shadows and indentations in the sand for his peg leg!

Bad Hair Day!  Cropped to square, duplicated left-right, top-down, then orb action. Cut in half and blended in a prairie dog face at low opacity. |

After looking at it some more, I think I should have worked on the shadows a little more.

that is so clever. I love it and tried to duplicate it, but got something quite different.
I duplicated the square, moved it to the left and flipped it horizontal. Then duplicated both together, moved that down and flipped it vertical. Then ran Orb Action.
That's how I understood your description. Please tell me where I went wrong.
This could become a fad like the Orb itself.

I am really pleased that you liked it Rita! I will try to recreate my steps, but you know how it is, you just sit down and go off on a path that is unforeseen. Let's see... I cropped the image square, taking the right side, then duplicate, resize canvas right, stamp, duplicate, resize canvas top, stamp. This will be much easier to understand from the image that results:  Now apply orb action and crop off the bottom half. If there is a detail that is not clear please feel free to ask again! |

Pete...Used to see those guys all the time at the beach. Maybe they'll return again after the beaches aren't so crowded. Great idea.

With the second duplication I had the two halves facing each other the wrong way. Now I don't know why I couldn't figure that out for myself.
