Thanks Sepiana, I'll check it out. Of course, since posting, the error message hasn't appeared again, despite me using the Organizer. Typical with technology, and similar to visiting the dentist with toothache which has disappeared by the time of the appointment.

It started yesterday afternoon when I'd added photos to the Organizer, in exactly the same way I've always done. Since then I keep receiving this error message, even when the Organizer isn't open:
I'm not sure that the pic is visible (have never used imgbb before) so have typed the text below:
I've rebooted the computer (Win 11) but it is still happening (3 times within an hour this morning). I've opened Organizer and can't find anything amiss it is working as usual and links quite happily to the Editor.
Does anyone have an idea of what I can do to stop it? After sending a report a couple of times I now simply delete the message.

I've resolved my problem. When looking a Windows Explorer I found that there is a link to iCloud (I didn't put it there, it just appeared!). I can click on the link and it takes me to my iPhone pictures. I can highlight those I want to put into Organizer, copy and paste them into the correct folder in Pictures. I can then go to Import >From File and Folders and there they are - without the duplicates or .mov files. Not as easy as automatically downloading from a camera card but it works without a lot of fuss. Thank you everyone who has tried to assist me, I really appreciate the support I get from members here and your patience when I can't make things work.

Thank you BuckSkin. I've tried uploading via Explorer and it is rather clunky and entails a lot of deleting of duplicates. I'll give DIM a check. I'm beginning to think it is the operator who isn't working well rather than all these options. But I'll get there, eventually.

That looked like it was a solution ... however ... I ended up importing all the photos previously imported but now ending with -2 along with the 4 new ones. I tried importing from 'Files and Folders' rather than 'Camera and Card Reader' but Organiser couldn't find Apple iPhone via that route. The only way it can find the iPhone is via 'Camera or Card Reader' instead of Internal Storage >DCM >DCM I get Internal Storage > 202311__ >202311__ and it searches through everything I've taken in November, which I guess is better than searching through everything (when I've had the new phone a bit longer than just over a week!) but it does import it with the suffix. I just need to search for and delete all photos with a suffix. I think I'll try MichelB's method of uploading via Explorer. It isn't as simple as using the downloader but I'll get used to it ... I hope! Doing it this way means I 'try' to import .mov files which Organiser doesn't recognise (and I don't want either - it's some gimmick Apple's put on recent iPhones of a little movie as the static photo is viewed - no doubt to impress the teenagers but this oldie remains unmoved ). I'm assuming that as long as I choose the current month it won't go through the much older photos like its doing for MichelB. I've found that iCloud (the Apple equivalent of Google Photos) keeps all the photos I've taken even those which were trial ones and deleted as soon as taken. Thanks for all your help Sepiana.

Thanks Sepiana. I've read through the thread, understood 50% of it but can see that most of it doesn't really refer to my precise situation. However, one poster in January 2021 appears to have a similar situation. S/he says:
"I download an image from my camera via the Organizer/USB cable on Windows 10.
The downloaded image appears in the Organizer as two identical images in looks, size and image number - no suffix. I have never downloaded, edited, or tagged that image previously."
In my case it is:
I download an image from my iPhone 15 camera via the Organizer/USB cable onto Windows 11, PSE24 Organiser.
The downloaded image appears in the Organiser as two identical images in looks, size and image number - plus a suffix of -1. I had never downloaded, edited, or tagged that image previously.
I should add that if I send photos by email and open them on my computer there is only one copy. However that is extremely time-consuming when I've got a lot of photos to download.

I've picked up the photos from the iPhone and got them into the Organiser by plugging the iPhone into the computer via the lead provided. However they come in as IMG_0033.HEIC, IMG_033-1.HEIC, IMG_0032.HEIC, img_0032-1.HEIC etc. Why are there two versions of precisely the same photo? I've checked the size and each couple are precisely the same size. Do I have to delete every *-1 version or is there a way of them not appearing in the first place? Or is there something mysterious I'm meant to do with the duplicate?

Having used the PSE24 Editor for a while I have found the action in Quick to Add Blue sky with a blue sky very useful and effective 90% of the time. I do have to go into Advanced to reduce the percentage though as the default is far from realistic - at least, as far as UK skies are concerned.

Thank you Sepiana, I was looking under View, I think technology is starting to get too clever for me these days.

To be honest I am completely underwhelmed by the 'new' features. I've spent the afternoon going through them and very little impressed me. I tried the blue sky option and it 'blued' more than the sky so the subject in the photo had a blue edge even though it wasn't touching the sky area. Opening eyes was scary but would be invaluable for Halloween!
It could be that I don't 'fix' my photos enough and should rescue more but I'd prefer to get them right via the camera (if only I could remember what to do!) I had PSE22 and, sadly, don't consider PSE24 worth the £70+ my husband paid for it. I should have waited longer and really looked at what was on offer.
I'd be interested to see what others thing about it.

I was poking around in PSE24 and found that I have loads of hidden photos. I can't see any reason why they are hiding so want to unhide them all. I can view them but can't see how to make them visible all the time except to click View> Hidden Files >Show all Files which means I can't hid any pictures should I ever need to. They all appear to have tags and come from various years. I can only think that I've had a clash of fingers on various occasions which hid them by mistake.

I've managed to convert the catalogue. Don't ask me how, I just kept clicking until the two catalogs turned up. Both have now been successfully converted. PSE24 named the new catalogs with the old catalog name plus a 1 - I would like to give it a more appropriate name eg Senior 24 and Design 24 - is there a way I can change the name or should I just put up with it? I'm sure I gave the new catalog my own name on previous occasions.
That is also resolved. I think I am now a happy bunny but just have to find the exe files so that I can put separate icons onto my desktop. I know the instructions are on here so I'll do a search.

Thank you Sepiana, your help is much appreciated as always.
Mart44 I don't think space is causing my problems (it could be the person behind the keyboard though!)
I store my photos on a 2TB external hard drive with 1.08TB free. I generally put my backups on the same external drive. The last one was backup.tly: 24,685KB Catalog.buc: 295,251KB
I am currently backing up to the D:drive whch has 494GB free.
I've no idea about how to convert kbs or gbs to tbs to compare.
I've used the Organizer for 20 years and can locate a particular photo within 3 minutes of searching by using it. I'd be loathe to change to something else after all those years.

I've done a bit more research through this forum and came up with these instructions from michelb on 29 Dec 2019 "If you need to convert the catalog manually, use the catalog manager (file >> manage catalogs; convert button; navigate to the catalog to convert). You get the location of the previous catalog from the 2019 version: menu Help >> system info." link
Which tells me: Current Catalog: Catalog Name: Senior 21 Catalog Location: D:\User\Pictures\Adobe\Senior 21\
I then went to PSE Help and searched on 'Catalogue Conversion Fails' and located the file pse-conversion-log_My catalog-1.txt to look for the name of the file that is causing catalog conversion failure at the end of the file. I found the txt file and the last line says: "conversion log: The catalog has been converted for use with this version of Elements Organizer." The file is dated today's date so I know it is current and not one from a previous conversion.
I'm now really flummoxed!

I have two catalogues, the biggest one being 41,000+ photos. I've just bought PSE24, installed it, and set it to import/convert my PSE22 Catalogue. It appeared to be going ahead, slowly, until at the end it told me that the conversion failed and I should check it in PSE22 before uploading it. I went back to PSE22 and did everything I could to Reconnect Missing Files (none - I'd already done that fairly recently), Optimise and Repair. Everything came up as being OK.
Back in PSE24 I have tried to convert the catalogue again - but I can't find it. I can see where it sits (D:\User\Pictures\Adobe) by looking at PSE22 but when I take PSE24 to the same folder my catalogues aren't visible.
The only other thing I can come up with is to uninstall PSE24 and reinstall it so that it can go off in search of the file on its own (it's already found it once). Or is there something else I'm missing?
