I usually use the quick selection tool and than jump into select & muddy, "as I call it. Than I use the refine edge brush and it usually ends up deselecting stuff I'm not even near or ignores where I'm brushing. Also the memory used in the select & mask is enormous. I really hope they get it working smoothly.
I usually just exit it and use the old refine edge which works most of the time for me. I recently picked up a client from TV that does a lot of posting on Facebook/twitter for her fans, Her hair is why I still use refine edge or in some cases, channels, calculations.

I even upgraded my video card to one based on Pascal architecture as per adobe techs recommendation. Unfortunately it didn't help much. I still use refine edge!!

Sorry to say I can't find anything like the image you posted above under profile or any of the tabs.
Strike that, finally figured I had to go into edit mode, that why it wasn't showing. Thank you...

I posted a few messages on the board and received responses. However I wasn't notified via email even though it is set to do so. Is there a reason or did I miss something. TIA

Am going to image, image size and changing the width to what was stated above...
The first is 10.417"w X 12.847h @72ppi. I reduced it to 5 X 6.167 @300ppi using Image, image size to make the changes and was able to get a nice print from it without any distortion.
The second photo is 10.412w X 10.194h @72ppi. I tried the same approach and setting it to 5.417w X 5.399h @300. However this photo shows jpg artifacts after resizing.

Sorry for jumping back in like this as I haven't been visiting the forums like I used to. Have been busy working on a few commissions along with a recent acquaintance that has been keeping me busy retouching photos for her fans.
I've always have been confused about printing, resolution and photo dimensions and wonder if anyone here can straighten me out.
Recently a client sent me two photos that where taken on her cell phone for retouching before posting them to her fans on Facebook. Most of the time she allows me to save/print them if I with.
The first is 10.417"w X 12.847h @72ppi. I reduced it to 5 X 6.167 @300ppi and was able to get a nice print from it without any distortion.
The second photo is 10.412w X 10.194h @72ppi. I tried the same approach and setting it to 5.417w X 5.399h @300. However this photo shows jpg artifacts after resizing. Am gathering the problem resides in the dimensions or am I missing something?
TIA

I was going to post this on facebook and remembered this forum. Am not sure if it follows guidelines as it is in regards to Photoshop. If you could direct me to the right forum please do and I'll post it there. TIA

Well, my upgrade finally came up and I bit the bullet. Everything with the upgrade went smoothly. The only Issue I have was I received a low memory warning, once while updating Creative clod, "ooops, cloud," the screen went black. And two when trying to view a video on youtube. I have 12g of ram and 2 gig video ram.
I didn't think I'd like the new look but it's slowly growing on me. I don't however like how they change the new app. preferred scrolling to the right, more natural. I hope they make available on disc as to restore my pc I have to go from 7 to 10, "YIKES."

I've installed 3 ssds in the past two years. this pc has a 500gb Samsung ssd for os and programs. before the ssd it used to boot in about 1:45, now it's about 15 seconds. simple to install, just make sure you set the drive to, "ahci," instead of "ide" before you install the OS.
As for backups, I have an external networks drive. It monitors my system and any file that gets edited or changes it backs up immediately. Haven't lost a file in 5 years and that includes PS settings, brushes, actions.

However when I printed it PS warned as always that the printed area exceeded the size of the paper. Is there a trick I'm missing as I've watched and read every printing video/article I could find. Hi Steven,
I also have Photoshop CC. I remember getting this error message. These suggestions from the Help file took care of the problem. (See the Note about this error message.)
Position and scale images
OK, when it shows me the preview everything looks centered and nothing is near the edge. I have a feeling it might actually be my printer. Which has been driving me insane the last 2 months saying it's not connected. an "hp officejet pro" 8600. I bookmarked your link and will try it next time. TY everyone.

I seem to have always had this issue since my PSE days up to now using PSCC. I received a photo from a friend of herself and decided to print it. I loaded it into PS cc and saw it's size was 2550 X 3300px. Since I don't speak pixels I told PS to make it into a 5X7 after converting it into a smart object. According to the rulers and guides I made, the actual printed area was 4.6x6.5. I even gone down as far as 4x6
However when I printed it PS warned as always that the printed area exceeded the size of the paper. Is there a trick I'm missing as I've watched and read every printing video/article I could find. TIA

I was wondering if there is a way to read all new posts without having to go back to the lists. Just being lazy;)
