Thanks for the advice. From what I've seen on doing a general search on the product it is advisable to get the driver files from the Ugee web site....which I have done in advance. The M1000L has the same active area as the M708....I will have to see if it can be reduced. I intend, like you, to keep the mouse as well :-) I should get the M708 early next week.....so I may be posting other questions if I get stuck...ha ha.
Edit: I've also seen smudge guard gloves.....looks like a sensible idea....I will cut down some cheap cotton gloves at first to see if they work.

Thanks.....I've just ordered the Ugee M708 which has a large active area compared to the Wacom 490. Its under £46 so not a massive investment....so I will see how I get on with it compared to a mouse. Thanks for the advice.

Is the Touch Medium a separate device to the Wacom? Thanks I'll take a look at the link now.

Hi All,
I'm finding using a mouse difficult to use on layer masks etc.
Which one do you recommend....I have a budget up to about £100. I have a Samsung laptop with Windows 7 and a 20" HP monitor.
Thanks in advance.
regards, Richard

No, you don't want a background copy layer. We're after a new, blank layer. To get that, go to Layer menu>new>layer or SHIFT+CTRL+N or click on the "create a new layer" icon in the layers palette. When I do that I still get a new layer, but when I click on it - it is a copy of the background? When I created the layer it has a drop down - do I need to select something from this....it is defaulted to Normal.
Thanks.

Question....when I create a new layer it is just a copy of the original image (background)? Its not as shown above...what am I doing wrong?

Ok here goes.....my first question since joining yesterday....so please bear with me. I'm using PSE 13.....at the moment all I do is adjust exposure, WB, clarity, colour, crop, dodge/burn and stamp etc. So I want to get into layers etc.
So here goes.... I find that macro shots of flowers are not sharp across the depth I want within the image. I've heard of focus stacking and I know what it is and how to take the images. But once I've taken say 8 shots - each at a different focus points....how do I stack them?
Thanks.

I'm a keen enthusiast who wants to improve my camera skills to produce better images. So I'm hoping that this forum will help me with PSE at least to correct mistakes and turn any disappointing shots into usable images. So I'll be posting lots of questions soon !!
