From time to time, and again in a post earlier this morning, instead of the image, I see only a small square suggesting a 'broken' image, like this: This morning, I couldn't see the first image but I could see the 2nd image (from Cats4jan's post in 'Resizing a Finished Page') Sometimes, it seems the image is just very slow (or large) to appear but most often, even after waiting some time, no image appears, as this morning However, I've been back to the same thread some 3 hrs later and noticed the image was showing By the way, the images today were postimage.org but I don't remember that previous occasions have been postimage.org or another one. Can anyone explain why this is happening, please? Many thanks

I too have the same/similar problem whereas a 'postimage.com' screen appears instead of the actual image. If I click either image in your post I get this screen which invites me to select files etc?
Any comments Please.

postimage.org seems to be having some problems lately. When they do, the pictures posted by that method don't appear. When they come back online, everything's okay again.

I've been having off and on again issues seeing photos in some posts, but I don't know whether they are postimage ones or not.
However, one thing I've learned - postimage works differently now. When the size was increased so we could get full size images in the post rather than a thumbnail - we no longer get the old way a thumbnail works - that is - when you click on the image in the post, you do not go to the real image - you go to that screen that was mentioned earlier in this thread. I attribute that action to it no longer being a thumbnail, but rather an actual photo.

Janice -
That is a function of the size one selects when using postimage.

Thanks Major - I'm using the size suggested by, I think, Bayla - so I could have a larger than thumbnail photo in my post. You are correct, of course - there is an option to have it thumbnail sized and I'm guessing if I chose that, it would act like a thumbnail instead of a photo. Thanks for the info.

ejb, I think it's how "postimage" works -at least lately.
What you see in the post is the "real" picture, not a thumbnail. Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

What you see in the post is the "real" picture, not a thumbnail. Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong? Hi Marianne Sometimes, instead of seeing a picture, it's just a very small square, Sometimes, with waiting, a picture will then appear but, quite often, nothing else appears other than this very small square, instead of an image. See my original post to see a picture of this little square (somewhat enlarged) However, you are quite right, Marianne, regarding the pictures/images that are seen. They are 'real' images and not just a thumbnail Julie

Any comments Please. Just had the same 'postimage' screen on another forum. Nobody seems to have an answer!? Hi ejb, welcome to PSE&M!
Let's try to bring it all together with a bit of history.
First of all, this is not a problem. This behavior is the result of some changes the Adm/Mod team made concerning how images uploaded via postimage.org are displayed in the threads. It all began with this request.
I'm sure this has been asked before but right now I'm to tired to look for it. You all have convinced me to use "postimage" and it is easy to do but is there a way for it to display full size rather than having to double click a thumb nail? So, we enabled the setting which changes a small thumbnail to a full-size image so that you won't have to click on the thumbnail to see it. As Craig, one of our Administrators, explained earlier in this thread.
That is a function of the size one selects when using postimage. If you bring up the postimage upload dialog, you will notice there are several sizes to choose from -- avatar, thumbnail, for message boards, for websites and email, etc. You also have the option of telling postimage not to resize your image and accept whatever resizing you did within Elements/Photoshop instead.
As a side note -- You can read the whole history behind this change in this THREAD.
EDIT: If you notice this behavior in another forum, this seems to indicate that forum also enabled this setting.

Hi everyone
Forgive me, please but although what Sepiana has posted is correct, it seems to have got confused with Dick's post, which Sepiana has linked. This thread has managed to deviate from the Original Question - please read/re-read my original post of this thread.
My question was why is sometimes just a small square all that's shown instead of the image that has been posted. It's not the same as Dick's question regarding clicking on a small image hoping to see a larger one as we could previously. These are two separate issues.
So, my original question still stands and hasn't actually been answered yet. Maybe we could get back on track?
Many thanks

Julie,
My previous post was a direct answer to ejb's problem as he had already asked the question twice; this explains my linking to Dick's thread. I was about to also address your question. I am not that fast sometimes because I need to collect all the necessary information. Also, it doesn't help matters that my Internet connection is acting up today.
I believe your problem -- "My question was why is sometimes just a small square all that's shown instead of the image that has been posted." -- had already been answered by Craig earlier in this thread.

Thanks Sepiana Yes, I had overlooked Craig's post and, I have to admit, I don't remember seeing the 'little square box' instead of an image for a little while now You don't need to exlain yourself. I appreciate you take measures to check up stuff before posting - one of the reasons your posts/advice etc is so valid and respected. I think, as this thread has digressed from my original question, I had forgotten Craig had answered it, as there have been several posts since. I don't feel my brain is so effective just now Thanks Julie
