Trying to be creative this morning. I used several different Powder Brushes from Brusheezy to create the background for this page.
The image is from the Wild Animals pack from Mighty Deals. I extracted the animal from its original background and blended it in to my background. I'm not sure exactly what animal this is - thinking that Clive might know...
EDIT: I have since found out this is a young male Impala.

I like how the surrounding background colors blend with the impala. Love that color combination too. With your permission I might try to emulate your presentation with a mule deer or whitetail deer .. I won't happen today as I am tied up until late this evening.

This is a really lovely image Lillias. The blending and colours are perfect, so serene.

The color selection and blending compliment the Impala. Very nice.

I would add to my wild animal collection... Good idea, Lillias. It is always interesting to see how you present your images and it is nice to have a theme going on the Digital Art board.

Go for it Clive and hope you enjoy the process. Yeah, well .... pretty sure I never followed the same method. Duplicated the duck (photographed yesterday); added a fall color reflection photo; used a "natural brush" eraser on on the new layer; changed opacity of the new layer. No actual blending.

Can I gently suggest instead of using the erasing method on your new layer (which is destructive) you add a black layer mask, you could then, using a soft brush with white gently brush over the area of your page where you think the bird is revealing him slowly and allowing you to blend the edges easier and you have the benefit of this method being nondestructive. Just my twopence worth.

Thanks Lillias. I will give it a go when I run out of other PSE stuff to do. (For perspective: this crazy old man took 1,455 photos of ONE bird today. I won't even look at 3/4s of them as shooting conditions were poor at the start ... were never great. I'll post a couple.) Have not heard "twopence" for years. Thank you. I promise to follow your advice one day! EDIT: imgbb is down right now

you add a black layer mask, Lillias, Promised that I give this a go. I do not like this result but understand the benefits. (For one thing, the background colors do not suit the photo.) But figured that I better post it anyway. The faded background is an OOF photo of dogwoods in our yard last fall. The pileated woodpecker was photographed on Jan 31. I used 2 or 3 brushes, none ideal. Work in progress. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Clive

Thanks for trying this Clive. I am happy that you can see the benefits of this method. Remember too that you can fine tune your results simply by swapping the colours white and black back and forth to brush out or brush back in parts of your image. That said, I will ‘haud my wheesht’ now unless you specifically want to know something that I might be able to help with. I don't want to sicken you... Love your woodpecker. Reminds me of the one and only time I saw one in real life quite some years ago in our neighbours back garden. I was surprised how big it was. Unfortunately it didn’t stay long and was gone never to return.
