One of my favorite things to shoot for the past 15-20 years has been abandoned places and, somehow, most of these end up being converted to Black & White or Sepia-tones because that’s what works with these subjects!!! So…if you don’t have any abandoned locales in your files to share, get out to shoot something. I know that, around here, there are always abandoned gas stations, homes, barns, etc. along the roadways…you just need to look in order to find them.
To get everyone started, here is a photo from one of my (many) favorite places...it's a favorite because, besides being a treasure trove of imagery, it's only about a half-hour drive for me!

Good topic and this was the first one from files that came to mind - a Chevy Master ca 1935 converted to B&W in Silver Efex. Will have to get out with the camera as there are lots of abandonments in the area. Tony

Might have posted this before. An old house, long abandoned.

I have used this abandoned farmhouse before but not in winter and as I was in the area today I stopped for another pic - the snow makes it look even more abandoned. Tony

Tony, that's a great rendition of a classic beauty! Old cars are a great subject for Black & White!
Clyde, what a sad looking house...especially since it's isolated from other homes and neighborhoods! Perfect for B&W.
Helen, all three of these shots are great, but my favorite is the first one. It's a lot more contrasty than the others.
Tony, the snow does add another, sadder dimension to the abandoned look of this house.
Great start to the week of abandonment, folks!

Jim, great conversion...but it might be a tad uncomfortable and difficult to eat at that table! LOL

Stopped by an old abandoned garage - I don't think this truck is going to get restored any time soon ...

Interesting challenge ... this was abandoned before it was finished.
