Hi everyone, Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread. The rules are rather simple.
- Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. - Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation. - Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.NOTE This week's theme was suggested by billz. (Thanks, Bill!)

Okay. Somebody has to get this rolling so I guess it'll have to be me. "Rose Hips"

Thanks, Jim. I was trying for something "different" than my first thought when seeing the theme.

Thanks for the challenge idea billz . It should be simple but is somewhat difficult. My efforts this evening. The Shadow is a bit questionable. The lone cloud is way too simplistic. A muley buck lost in a field of maturing canola.

Interesting theme and I have taken a few before in winter of bare trees in a snowy landscape but that didn't work at this time of the year! So tried another subject and here's the result: Wasn't sure about the bit of tree on the left so tried one without and then decided to emphasise the negative space by emphasising the shapes rather than the detail and finished up with: Tony

Thanks for choosing my theme idea Sepiana. It's fun to see all the various interpretations. I tried a few this morning and settled on this one.

One more - not sure if it counts as negative space but I was passing this view of a partly combined wheat field and a power transmission corridor - the hazy sky is partly from the forest fires Tony

I had some difficulty with interpreting "negative space", so had to wait to see what other contributors put forward and I tried to follow their lead. Hope this offering fits the bill. i.ibb.co/s5yL4M6/Out.jpgDennis

Okay. Somebody has to get this rolling so I guess it'll have to be me. "Rose Hips" Jim, you rolled in the right direction. This is a classic! The rose hips coming from the corner into the frame and emphasizing the negative space surrounding them.

Clive, your efforts hit the mark. My favorite is the 2nd image -- the buck surrounded by the canola field (negative space).

Thanks for choosing my theme idea Sepiana. It's fun to see all the various interpretations. I tried a few this morning and settled on this one. Bill, this is a great example of negative space. Our eyes land on the city skyline and are immediately drawn up into the vast negative space created by the sky.

Wasn't sure about the bit of tree on the left so tried one without and then decided to emphasise the negative space by emphasising the shapes rather than the detail. Tony, you nailed it. I favor the 2nd image. Using a shape for your subject brings out the best in the negative space (sky). One more - not sure if it counts as negative space but I was passing this view of a partly combined wheat field and a power transmission corridor - the hazy sky is partly from the forest fires It does count. You captured a positive space (wheat field + power transmission corridor) and a negative space (sky) filling out most of the frame.
