Nice challenge Helen. Overall BG by 2 Lil Owls from the Beautiful Grunge Texture range. BG in actual image from Graphic Burger Textures and adapted by me. Additions from HiClipart and also from ‘A Soldiers Memories’ kit by G&T Designs. To finish off I used the Double Mats Frame effect by Frank from his CE Challenge No 217. Also used Franks Mat effect for this.

After I posted I wondered if this image might be too hard to work with. Thanks for showing me it wasn't, Lillias and Sepiana.
Lillias..... it has a country charm to it and Frank's matting technique sets it off nicely.
Sepiana....I especially like how you made the glow from the lantern illuminate parts of the stack.

This is a stretch ... The sun and old house image was in "the can" in my files and created in 2020. I made the composite by dropping a setting sun onto the old house image. Both my images. Highly tweaked. The lantern was isolated and dropped into the window. I acknowledge that the lantern lacks prominence in the image. And it is way out of proportion...too large. I might try another.  |

Frank...quite a fanciful image...I love how the lantern is climbing the stairs and sweeping the stars....makes me think of perhaps a Disney movie.
Clive....nice tones in your first submission.....nothing says that the lantern has to be prominent in the scene....I like your idea.
The lantern is certainly prominent in the second image and fits nicely in the window. To get the light rays more to your liking I am thinking that they could be created on a separate layer stretched and blurred. That being said I think another member might better advise you as I think I would struggle to get them the way I wanted them as well.

I'm not sure what to do with it either but am impressed with everyone's submissions so far.
I like the leading line of the sidewalk and the placement of the man with the streetlight seemingly illuminating his front. Lantern fits the scene and seems to be the right proportion for him to carry.

Ahhh....well-chosen image and nice replacement with the lantern. Like it in B/W better than the color starter.

Created a sketch effect. Added a texture from Spoongraphic and gave it the Difference blend mode. Topped off with a black layer mask and brushed parts of the image back in. Added one of Jodi’s frames to complete the image.  |
