In the new update iPhoto was replaced with Photos. I don't use neither, but I think a lot of people was disapointed. I think there's a way to get it back, though. im not able to get this to work...Ive gone to my PURCHASED but next to iPhoto it doesn't say INSTALL and when i click on it ... nothing happens this would have been a great work around ... I may pop over to the APPLE store and see if they can help me out thank you

Have you looked in your Applications folder on your hard drive? - My "old" iPhoto is still there and when i click on it - it starts up. Good luck in solving the problem. ~bruce.

Good luck!
There's one thing you can try, though. I had some applications I couldn't get to work. I rebooted my mac and I was good to go. I could update/install again. It's maybe worth a try..

Have you looked to see if iPhoto is still in your Applications list? It was still there in mine so I deleted the Photos icon from my dock and replaced it with iPhoto.
I find that my 'open with' is set to the default of PSE13. I think this happens because some time ago when I right clicked on a photo and then 'Get info' there was the option to 'Open with:' near the bottom where I could choose to open with PSE 13 (or your choice from the drop down list). It says 'Use this application to open all documents like this. Click on Change All... Since then any photo i have from wherever opens in PSE13 which was my choice.
Sorry if this is rambling - it is so hard to give an explanation of something that one now does automatically!
