Having recently upgraded to Elements 2024, I have come up against a problem. That is, I can print from the Organiser, but not from the Editor. When I attempt to print from the Editor. the program "freezes", and all of the Tabs become inoperative, I then have to resort to Windows Task Manager to escape the program. Having tried numerous suggestions from folk on the Adobe Community group, none of which worked, I have opened a case with Adobe Support. I am expecting a telephone call from them tomorrow afternoon, which will hopefully result in a solution. I have had several versions of Elements, usually upgrading every couple of years, but until version 2024 never had this problem. Is anyone here using Elements 2024, and if so, have you encountered this problem?. I am running Windows 10 on an i7 based PC, with 16 Gb of RAM. Two Canon Photo printers (A3 & A4), both with the latest drivers.

Hi Dave, welcome to PSE&M!
I also have Elements 2024 (installed on two computers, Windows 10 and Windows 11). I have not encountered any problems printing from the Editor (or from the Organizer for that matter).
I'm curious. Do you get any error message when the Editor freezes? If so, what does it say?

No Error messages, just the problem as described. I'll update this 'thread' after I have spoken with Adobe.

I have had various editions of PSE - starting in 2004. I have given up on printing from PSE - just too much hassle. I save as jpg and print from them.

While I await the call from Adobe, I thought I would check back on previous editions. I re-installed v2023, and as I knew the problem existed, which is I why I updated to v2024. Un-installed v2023, and re-installed v2021. With v2021 there was no problem. So the 'bug' arrived with v2023, and carried over into v2024. All of my other applications, Lightroom, Luminar, and Word etc, print fine

Ok, the Adobe agent did call on time as as scheduled. The guy was both pleasant and helpful, but after spending most of the afternoon e-mailing back and forth, none of the changes suggested to the app data files etc, resolved the problem. He suggested the only solution could a completely 'clean' install. However, with hundreds of images registered with the Organiser, and multiple albums created, losing all that, and having to reinstate it after a fresh install, would involve hours of work. A 'clean' install means firstly removing all traces of Elements from the PC. So, unless an update is forthcoming from Adobe, I am stuck with the problem.

The catalog was not deleted; my hours of organizing work were not wasted. I would strongly recommend you followed his suggestions.

Ok, I backed up the PC to an external drive, as a safety measure, then uninstalled Elements 2024, electing not delete preferences etc. I then went into my Adobe account, downloaded a fresh copy of Elements 2024, and installed it. As you say, my catalogue and albums remained intact. Did this resolve the problem, no it didn't. Do I regret ever upgrading from v2021, you bet I do. Of all the Elements upgrades I have done from earlier versions, I had never experienced any problems until versions 2023 and 2024. I'll wait and see what Adobe's senior support technician has to suggest on Monday. "Watch this space".

Well I guess I have come to the end of the road as far as printing from Elements 2024 Editor is concerned. It would appear that Adobe's support team have run out of ideas, and the promised call from a senior member of the support team, never materialised. Here's a summary of what I have informed Adobe:-
1. Unable to Print from Editor, but can Print from the Organiser 2. Selecting Print (or Ctrl+P) from the Editor causes the program the 'Freeze'. Have to use Windows Task Manager to escape the program. 3. Suggestions from helpful folk on the Abobe Community did not work 4. Changes to App Data as requested by Adobe support did not work. 5. Have removed all files related to earlier verions of Elements from App Data etc, leaving just version 2024. 6. All Canon printer drivers up to date (ix6850, iP7250, Mx 2550S) 7. Windows 10 64bit fully up to date. 8. i7 Based Windows PC with 16GB of RAM 9. Printing from all other applications, Windows Print, Luminar, and Word etc, no problem. 10. Uninstalled Elements 2024, electing not to delete preferences etc, in or order to retain my catalogue and album data. I then went into my Adobe account, downloaded and installed a fresh copy of Elements 2024. The problem of being unable to print from the Editor remained the same. 11. Installing an earlier version of Elements, showed that the problem did not exist. Note: Setting the print option to "Microsoft print to PDF" does not cause to program to 'freeze', but when I select any one of my printers, the program 'freezes', and I have to resort to Windows Task Manager to exit the program. The fact that Elements 2024 prints from the Organiser, and all other applications on my PC, the logical conclusion has to be that the source of the probelm lies within the coding of the Editor section of the sofware. In the past, I have upgraded from several earlier versions of Elements, and had never experienced this problem.

Following a suggestion from a member of the Adobe Community, I downloaded a copy of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner. I then uninstalled Elements 2024, and ran the Cloud Cleaner, after which I reinstalled Elements 2024, yet the problem remained as it was. I am now somewhat frustrated, and disappointed. This is not helped by the fact that the Adobe Support Team have apparently "thrown in the towel".

Ahh, Dave. So sorry you weren't able to have your issue resolved. I can understand your frustration but it does seem like Adobe must be frustrated as well at this point. As hard as it is, sometimes it is best to recognize that you have done all that you can.....and "throw in the towel". I hope that you will still find opportunities to participate in our forum....we look forward to having you join us.

This seems to fix many glitches Elements develops. 1. Right-click on the Elements shortcut and select "Run as administrator". 2. Do some testing around, printing from the Editor. 3. If the problem went away, close Elements. 4. Open Elements again but this time do it from your standard user account.

Ok, I tried the opening with theAdministrator method, but the program still "froze" when trying to print from the Editor. As an experiment I installed Elements 2024 on my i5 based laptop, and it worked fine. The difference is the laptop had never had Elements, or any other image editing application installed on it before, and it is running Windows 11, not Windows 10. I have to wonder if there is a compatibility issue between Elements 2024, and Windows 10. When as another experiment, I reinstalled a much earlier version of Elements on the PC, it worked fine. Unfortunately, my desktop PC does not meet the requirements Windows 11, and I really don't want to buy a new PC when the existing one works fine with everything except printing from Elements 2024 Editor.
