When I checked the layer stack in your screenshot, I noticed the Type layer is not hidden. I believe that's the root of the problem. Thanks, Sepiana. I fiddled around and finally got a somewhat similar facsimile to what I wanted but far from perfect.  Jim, You are most welcome! Glad to be of help. I like what you accomplished.
