Just a recent example: Yesterday I had to transfer 2.16 Gigs of pictures to Dropbox. A quick check showed I was uploading with DSL: expected upload time, 7 hours (0.8 Mpbs connection) I switched to cable (18 Mpbs connection) and all was done in 20 minutes.

How were you able to switch from DSL to Cable so quickly? Just curious........

I can access both by wifi. From the Windows 10 bottom bar I click on the Internet icon so that I can see the list of available wifi sources and select the good one. There are sometimes availability problems with the cable, that's why I procrastinate dropping the DSL...

I have download of 10, upload I think is less than 1? It's cable - I can get 15 if I pay more, but usually the 10 - when it's working at 10 - is sufficient. Our local cable company got out of the tv business and I think it's going out of the internet business soon. I'll see what's available then and change. We have old wiring in this community. It's getting updated, but right now, they are concentrating in the newly developed parts of the community and ignoring us. Oh well.

I too have fiber optic My current speed downloading is 24,04 mb/s and uploading is 25,38 mb/s ping is 8 ms (whatever ping is). In a couple of weeks we get a new supplier with 60/60 mb/s The subscription is quite expensive, but we get tv and telephone as well (not mobile phone). Who uses telephone BTW I'm not sure what dial up is, but in the early days when we were in our cabin, we had a mobile modem, and the speed was in kB..something. EDIT: I googled Ping and see that it is the response time back and forth to the provider.

Speed is no problem but the cost of mobile wifi broadband is a very big deal here in Oz if you live outside the metropolitan areas. Our data download limit is severely restricted because of this. My daughter is on satellite and it's been super slow but apparently they're now hooked up to another satellite that gives them more speed. She's way out in the sticks and only rural people have to use satellite. This is a big country.

I have BT WiFi. Haven't got a clue about upload or download speeds - don't know where to look. It is fast enough.
