So pretty, BillieJean! I especially like how she seems to be coming from beneath the cut-out.

I agree - she really seems to be peeking out from the curtain of flowers. Excellent.
Did you use a leaf brush to erase parts of the girl? Or was it a blend mode?

Thank you both for your appreciation of the page. Now I have to confess that it is the picture itself that makes it appear that she is peeking out from behind the leaves – it's not anything clever that I've done. A picture is better than a thousand words so - Top left is the original which I got from Pixabay and top right is the poor extraction I did from the white BG and then I coloured it. I got away with the poor extraction because of the BG I placed her on in the page. I've since done a second version where I lightened her up to be more summer like (bottom).

BillieJean - It's very clever to see a photo and envision a way to make it work for you. It takes nothing away from your layout that you found the perfect photo. Your page is beautiful.
I thought I would like the lighter version more, but when I looked at both, I'm torn. I can't decide which one I like better. I guess, the lighter one is more summery, but...

Thank you Janice. I kind of like both versions myself.
Your spring flowers are beautiful. Lovely layout with the various layers and such lovely colours.

Hi Whippet I'm glad you liked my behind the scenes look at how I put the page together...lol...
Don't be afraid to ask any time if you would like to know more about how any of our pages were constructed. I'm sure I can speak for Janice on this too...

Thank you kindly. As this was in scrapbooking, I thought it would be quite different to my passion. But it is pretty much the same actually. I want to try different things when I get familiar with PE11. Whenever that will be.

I'm sure I can speak for Janice on this too... I'm always glad to discuss how I did something. I usually do things the simplest way. I'm not patient with difficult stuff. My favorite layouts usually start with a template, although often the finished product will have no semblance to the original template. But, I find I need the kickstart of a template to get over just grabbing a few photos and putting them into collage form. That's what I like so much about using psd-format templates. With their multi-layered composition, anything can be deleted or moved or enlarged or substituted.

I had never heard of psd format. So have just looked it up. What a good idea. More than once, I have flattened an image - then regretted it. Thank you Janice.

It's a good idea to save your finished layouts on an EHD. It also takes the load off your PC resources.

I don't know about load off PC resources, I store my valuables on my EHD because twice in the past, I lost everything when my PC gave up on me. I like your method, Janice. Many is the time I have deleted something - thinking I had finished with it - then regretted it later.(That is the story of my life!!!).
