My initial thought was to try to create the look of a double exposure....but then I just got carried away.......

Sepiana "Moto – Great job! I really like this effect. It made the colors and the lines pop. Would you mind sharing how you did this?"1) Colored Pencil 2) Graphics Novel with Fine Detail option 3) Used a blending mode. Which one I don't remember. 4) Multiple Levels adjustments and a opacity change. Edited for simplicity
Moto,
Thanks for posting back with the information how you did your entry! That's a great combination -- Colored Pencil + Graphic Novel. I think it was this combo which made your image so unique.

Craig – Very original use of Fractalius and Topaz Glow. It looks like the two were made for each other. What a great idea to limit Glow to the vase and flowers! The choice of frame was perfect.
kdcintx – Great use of Topaz! I really like how you created a painterly effect with bold colors. And the little skunk? It made me smile.
Thanks for the comment on my entry! I appreciate it.
Sydney – This is a classic! A B&W conversion with selective coloring made all the difference. I love the nostalgic feeling you accomplished here.
tourerjim – Perfect compositing technique! The planter looks like it had been there all along. Well done!
Thanks for commenting on my entry! You are very kind.
BillieJean – This came out really nice. I like how you went easy on the cartoon effect (one which can be quite strong sometimes). Great job!
Helen – Great thing you got carried away with the double exposure effect. This gave your image a very ethereal feeling, a fairy-tale quality. You ended up with a very unique creation.
Pete - You are indeed a master at sketching. Your entry confirms it. I really like how you eliminated the cluttered background. This is a perfect example of less is more.

I now realize that an important step was using Haze Removal (PSE 14). It was a preparation step that brought out the colors in the first place. Edit: If you don't have Elements 14 - One example of manual Haze Removal can be found at: digitalphotographyformoms.com/remove-haze-in-photoshop-elements-for-clear-photos/Scroll down to the section REMOVE HAZE IN PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS FOR PSE 13 AND PRIOR.

Tom,
I really like the kind of painterly effect you used. From my experience, it is a difficult effect to apply; it can be easily overdone. You got it just right! Well done!

One of my gold-making efforts. Bas-Relief, several yellow and greenish color layers blended together, and a lot of dodging and burning.
