PSE6 organizer freezing up

  I'm back with another puzzler. My PSE6 organizer has taken to freezing up when I try to adjust the date on an image. Does anyone have any insight on this problem? In the dialogue box it allows me to change the year, but when I click on the month dropdown everything in the program comes to a stop because the little spinning ring is indicating that it's busy. Unfortunately it never seems to finish whatever it's doing, hence I can't just back out of the adjust  date function and proceed to something else...I'm stuck closing the program and restarting.
 Any input would be greatly appreciated.
