Wow. That looks great, Sepiana.
Billie Jean, Wendy's tutorials were always the best. Even I managed to make a good stained glass project using her tutorial.

Tpgettys, I took a quick read through the tut that Sepiana posted, see if the steps listed here may help you get the glass look.

Helen,
That's it. I hadn't looked at this tut I posted the link to for a long time. I found my notes. For my stained-glass textures I had followed a tutorial by Wendy on the now-closed PET site. The steps are basically the same in both tuts.

Thanks Helen, I did try following that tut but my results were disappointing.
Sepiana, I think I recognize your iris image from the EV days. I so,wish I could get my hands on Wendy's tut to see how that went.

I have just finished testing the tut I gave the link to earlier in this thread. The results are identical to the ones I got when I followed Wendy's tut. That should do it for your project.

EDIT: Ok, what a wonderful rabbit hole this is taking me down! I am finding some stained glass design sites that are quite interesting; one such is stained-glass-patterns.orgMore rabbits, tpgettys? I am really pleased that I started this topic, there are really nice effects being produced. I love celtic designs - great idea for stained glass. I was going to classes when I learned. So I must have been using PSE 2. I can't put that on Windows 7. But, I have it on the lap top.

This is a copy of my notes following Wendy's tutorial on making stained glass - actually just the part on how to make the glass - the tutorial is longer as she also goes on to show how to make a simple stained glass panel. Please use these notes in conjunction with the image below. 1. First we need to create the glass, so create a new File. (File>New>Blank File) 1000 pixels x 1000 pixels, resolution 300, RGB with a white background. 2. Next, set your foreground and background colours to the default by pressing D on the keyboard. Then do Filter>Render>Clouds. Your image should now look something like mine, but if it doesn’t then simply apply the filter again until it does. (Refers to image 1)
3. Next, do Filter>Blur>Motion Blur and use the setting of 43 degrees with a distance setting of 220. Hopefully yours will now look something like this. (Refers to image 2)
4. Then do Filter>Distort>Ocean Ripple using the settings Ripple Size 8 and Ripple Magnitude 18. Once you have done that your image should look like this. (Refers to image 3)
5. That looks OK but it needs to be lighter, so do Enhance>Adjust Lighting>Levels and drag the white slider inwards as I have done. (Refers to diagram )
6. Once you have done that, then the glass is completed. (Refers to Finished Glass image)
7. Make sure to save copy of it at this stage so that you will be able to use it next time you want to create a stained glass image.

Yes, your notes match my notes and also the steps in this tutorial I posted earlier.
And thanks for acknowledging the author of this tutorial -- Wendy Williams.
For those of you who may not know who she was . . .
Wendy was a long-standing member/moderator on the now-closed Elements Village forum. She was also a contributor to the also now-closed photoshopelementsuser website (parent host of the Elements Village forum). Her tutorials on that site were for subscribers only. But, when she passed away, Rick LePage made them available to all as a tribute to her memory.
As a side note -- I still feel humbled and honored to have been a beta-tester for the tutorials she wrote for that website. Wendy was also my mentor.

I have just thought of something.
The iEmboss plug-in by Redfield will create a glass-like effect suitable for a stained-glass project. I used it in this image, my entry to an EP challenge.
