Took into Nik Collection Color Efex Pro and applied a Solarisation effect Placed a mask on that layer and brushed with white to get the effect seen. Kit used - Dreams and Hopes from Graphic Creations. Stars from Dawn Inskip’s Media Arts Bundle.

An OOB using an iPhone Pete, great idea! This could be a modern design for a card announcing the birth of a child.

Rita, very interesting portrait effect coupled with an unusual blocky frame. I am curious. How did you create the frame? As you may know, . . . I just love frames.

It added an unexpected twist to it.

Sepiana, I used this image to make the frame, selected the rectangles and put a bevel on them, left the unprocessed layer underneath to provide the white dividers.
I too love making frames and often have as much fun with them as I have with the image itself. I chose this just for the pastel colors from a large collection of junk images I keep for such purposes.

Rita, thanks! WOW! That was a lot of work but it paid off in the end. A very unique frame!

Just part of my rebellion against all these mindless one-click solutions they're trying to sell us these days. Rita

BillieJean, great job! I really like the "old-fashioned" effect.

- Ran the file through ON1 Photo RAW. - Replaced the white background with a texture by FrenchKiss. - Created the frame effect with AKVIS Frames. - Applied a photo tint by Jerry Jones. - Applied the Lighting Effects filter (Filter>Render> . . .).

Converted to a card with a new background.... Frank, what a lovely card! I really like your choice of a B&W background (and a very meaningful one). Great job!
