I’m getting a pop up message ‘Update and Privacy Settings before installing Windows 10 Creator’s Update you will need to review your privacy settings’. I Googled this to find out about it and it seems that when you click on the Review Settings button you are taken to a page where you have several Settings choices to make. Having made those choices you are then taken to a page which states ‘Windows will handle the Update from here’ Click ok and I believe I’m right in saying the CU update should start. I’m seeing reports from a lot of folks who are having a lot of problems since this Update and many have rolled their systems back to their previous state. I was fortunate enough in that I didn’t experience any problems with the Anniversary Update but I must admit I’m a bit apprehensive about this one. I just wondered if anyone here installed this new Creators Update and if so, what has your experience been – any problems etc: Here is a link to the Microsoft page about this support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4014916/windows-10-choose-your-privacy-settings-for-windows-10-creators-update

Thanks for your feedback Rita. That's an interesting article on pcworld. I must read it more in depth. I asked this same question on another forum and one of the members said that she downloaded the Creator update on both her laptop and PC a month ago now and had no issues at all. She went on to say that she had only heard of some browser issues and settings for some programs being changed but that could be fixed by a reinstall or repair. At the end of the day Microsoft is going to force this on us anyway I just wanted to try and be forewarned of anything in particular to watch out for. There is one thing that could be annoying – I remember when I first got Windows 10 the size of the font on System dialogues was really small but they provided a way to resize by going into Settings>System>Display and there is a slider to increase the size of the text. Apparently with the Creator update they have removed this and we are back to the small text. This is not good for older eyes – like mine. However according to this Thread in the link below you can manually change the settings should you want to. www.tenforums.com/general-support/81047-advanced-sizing-text-gone-creators-update.html I don't know why Microsoft have to fiddle with things like this all the time.

I’m getting a pop up message ‘Update and Privacy Settings before installing Windows 10 Creator’s Update you will need to review your privacy settings’. I just wondered if anyone here installed this new Creators Update and if so, what has your experience been – any problems etc:
It is my understanding that Microsoft has been rolling out Windows 10 Creator and targeting new machines in the process. I have two computers with Windows 10. On the newest computer, I got the message to review my Privacy settings in preparation for this update. I ignored the message. When this update is ready to be installed, I will review these settings. On my second computer, I have got a message that this update is on its way and asking if I would like to try it now. I declined the invitation. In short, I won't review my Privacy settings until Windows 10 Creator is ready to be installed.
At the end of the day Microsoft is going to force this on us anyway I just wanted to try and be forewarned of anything in particular to watch out for.
Even if Microsoft is forcing this update on Windows users, you are still in control, i.e., you still have choices -- Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Microsoft has not ended support for these two versions yet.
support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet
Anyway, that's what I have now -- two machines with Windows 10, one machine with Windows 7.
I am not sure this is feasible in your situation. Do you have a Microsoft store where you are? You could take your computer there and they would install Windows 10 Creator, check for problems, etc. Just a thought!

BillieJean,
So far I run WIN 10 only on my small laptop and text size is a problem for me now. I have display set to 125% size which makes for some distortions but saves eye strain. I bookmarked your link, but I'll probably need professional help to deal with changes to the registry. Thanks for pointing this out.
I read something a while ago that indicated that MS fiddles with things like this because they want to run the same System on big desk top monitors and teensy tablets and phone displays. It saves them a lot of money and the customer be d...d

I am adopting the same practice as you Sepiana in that I am ignoring the message until the update is ready to be installed and then I will review the settings. I was just trying to get as much info as I could beforehand. Even if Microsoft is forcing this update on Windows users, you are still in control, i.e., you still have choices -- Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Microsoft has not ended support for these two versions yet. As for still being in control and still having choices – Windows 7 and 8.1. My laptop came with Windows 10 on it and my Desktop was upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 and the period of grace Microsoft provided to roll back to Windows 7 is long gone. I'm not sure I'd want to do that now anyway. I am not sure this is feasible in your situation. Do you have a Microsoft store where you are? You could take your computer there and they would install Windows 10 Creator, check for problems, etc. Just a thought! No I'm afraid there isn't a Microsoft Store in my area.

Rita probably given time someone will come out with a 'quick fix' which we will just need to 'run' and it will do the changes for us. That's what I'm hoping anyway.

Hope you are right. Hope springs eternal I'm following the same strategy as you and Sepiana.
It sounds much more of a problem for you than it will be for me. My laptop is not very important to me as long as I have Photoshop and Word on my trusty WIN 7 desktop.

OOps, lost the quote, sorry.

I had major probs with the creative update to the point I had to reset my laptop to factory settings which restored the previous version of Window 10. After that, and before I loaded any software, I invoked the update and didn't have any issues. But it was anything but fun having to reload everything from scratch

I'm sorry you have had all that hassle with this update Sydney. I think I'm getting too old for this...lol and to think that they are going to make us go through this twice a year from now on....not funny.

Sydney, did you update voluntarily before you were forced to do so? My Updater has for weeks shown a message saying something like 'you don't have to wait. If you want it right now, do such and such'. Is that what you did?

Having just read on article on what is included in this update I don't really see anything that I want or need. I really hope I can escape this update as long as possible.

and to think that they are going to make us go through this twice a year from now on....not funny. As I said earlier, I believe you are still in control, i.e., you can still postpone or even turn off Windows 10 Automatic Updates. It all depends on which version of Windows 10 you use.
