Thanks for sharing that Sepiana. I was not aware of the change. I'll have to download the new Classic version and see if the performance has improved.

Andy, you are most welcome! My CC subscription got updated with the Classic version this morning. I noticed quite an improvement in performance regarding speed and smoothness going from one module to the other. I still have to check the new features.

Disappointing there will be no LR7 Perpetual Licence in the future. I've used LR as my raw editor, together with PSE for pixel editing since LR3. I'm not a fan of the subscription model. I prefer to purchase anything outright rather than monthly never never payments, and I have no use for Photoshop. I'll continue with LR6 as long as Mac OS continues support or I purchase a new camera, though the DNG Converter is an option. I did purchase ON1 Photo Raw 2017 a couple of months ago and ON1 support have granted me a free upgrade licence to v.2018 due at the end of this month. I will give that a go as my raw editor as it also works well in conjunction with PSE.

What's NEW in Lightroom Classic CC: FASTER, 1 new feature!

Well, I updated about an hour ago and am already having issues that I had to post to the respective Adobe forum for.
It seems that my LR just crashes pretty soon after opening and trying to work on a photo. The crash report window pops up and I send it on the Adobe, but made a copy of the details first to be able to post to the forum. It seems lots of people are having similar issues with black screens in the develop mode etc. Hopefully this will be resolved soonest as otherwise I will have to go back a version until they have resolved all this.

Thanks for the warning as I am in the middle of a project for the local amateur theatre and have a deadline to meet - I was almost tempted to click the upgrade button but will now wait until I've finished. I also use ON1 Raw and must admit that they are getting better and better whereas I'm not so sure about Lightroom. Here's ON1's perspective on the Lightroom changesTony

I made the mistake of upgrading LR 6.12 CC to 7 Classic, and it's got serious catalog problems and bugs. While I had only one crash, I've had problems with image stacking being broken, incorrect count of images in a folder, and duplicate and triplicate entries of the same file name in a folder. Looking at one of the folders in Explorer (Windows 7) showed the correct number of images and the correct names (33), but LR insisted there were 37, including several dupes. I ended up having to remove all images from the database (without deleting them) and reimport them via re-syncing the folder. That worked, but I lost the stacking, which I had to manually redo. 6.12 allowed you to rename a file by changing its name in the right panel, but doing that on 7 doesn't work, and leads to database errors.
What a mess. The incorrect count and other database screwiness were reported by another user on the Adobe forums, and the Adobe rep was able to reproduce the same bugs, and so put in a bug report. There also seem to be a lot of complaints about crashing, and the inability to convert the catalog from 6.x to 7 without errors, with the same errors being reported by both Windows and Mac users.
I noticed that exporting JPGs without adding them to the stack worked without causing incorrect number of images in the folder and dupe files name errors, so I'm doing that for the moment, and manually adding the JPG to the stack.. I'm sticking with 7 and not rolling back to 6.12, simply for the entertainment value :-)
