Started in Lightroom. Cropped and straightened. Strong Contrast on Tone Curve. Removed lamp posts. Added gradients to edges, but mostly sky (masked out chimney). In Silver Efex selected Full Contrast and Structure preset. Back in Lightroom, lightened the chimney with brush tool.

And for this one I thought I would just stay in Lightroom and fiddle. Cropped, added medium contrast, lifted shadows and reduced highlights overall. Converted to black and white. Added gradient filter to the sky, masking the vegetation. Painted the seaweed rocks and hut with vegetation to lighten. Painted along the line of clouds to lighten and the top of the sea to darken to create more contrast. Slight vignette.

alexr, I like the very somber look you created in the first image.....it definitely reflects the deteriorating state of the building. For the second image, thanks for showing us what can be achieved within LR. I know many of our members also use LR. I especially like what you did along the horizon with the use of brushes.
