There is no longer a "next Sunday" posting deadline. You can grab your camera, take your photo, and post it in this thread any time you wish to.
Hi everyone,
Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread.
- Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. - Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation. - Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.
NOTE
This week’s theme was suggested by kdcintx . (Thanks, kdcintx!)

One of the many very old and impressive buildings in The Forbidden City, Beijing.
I was fortunate at the time to have another person taking a photo (in the bottom right hand corner) to give a sense of scale.

bailey, thanks for starting this challenge! Your participation is appreciated.
Just a little note . . .
The WP challenge is a bit different from the many other photo theme challenges out there. We aim at having our members take a photo to specifically fulfill the posted theme (instead of submitting a photo from one's archive/portfolio, i.e., one which was taken before the theme was posted). Hopefully you can find the time to grab your camera, take a photo of an old building, and . . . have fun in the process.
Furthermore, last year we made a change in the time frame of the WP challenge. If you don't have time to go shooting during the week a given theme is posted, you can take your photo any time you wish, come back to the thread in question, and post it.

Thanks Helen,
I decided to go out with my new lens on my Infrared camera today as it was a harsh light sunny day. Image was process in Luminar with my custom presets. I do set a custom white balance for my camera to start.
It doesn't look like it was shot at 3pm.

ok no problem sepiana ... ... The WP challenge is a bit different from the many other photo theme challenges out there. ... ... If the purpose of this challenge is to get people using their cameras then I already do that. Rarely a week goes by where I haven't taken some photos of something so I wouldn't have thought it would matter whether a photo is taken before, during or after the the theme was posted. But not wanting to rock the boat, I will delete my photo as it was taken in 2016 and in the future if the weekly theme coincides with photos I take in that week, I will try to post some

The old Collins ax factory in infrared. Frank, this is a beautiful and intriguing image! I love the eerie (surreal) effect you achieved. Great decision going the infrared way!

You got the kind of image which "begs" to be looked at more than just once.

Hi Sepiana - I use a converted Nikon D200 with a Sigma 17-70 f2.8/4. The camera is converted with a 665nm Infrared filter which allows for some color capture. All images are captured in RAW and processed with custom preset on import. The harsher the light, the better the Infrared image.

This Life-Saving Station was built in 1894 and housed the men who would come to the rescue of shipwrecked victims. The station was used by the Coast Guard until the late 1940's. More recently it served as the visitor center at Gateway National Park, Sandy Hook, NJ. Damaged by Hurricane Sandy, it has yet to be repaired. And yes, that's snow still on the roof from last week's storm. Photo was taken last night.

As a coincidence, a friend of mine has a very similar set-up -- a Nikon camera converted with an Infrared filter. I was thinking about borrowing it to give this effect a try.

This is one of the oldest buildings in the village of Carshalton. It is thought to be mediaeval. The original cottage later became Woodman's Butcher's Shop and the hooks on which the carcasses were hung are still visible outside the windows. It was still a small butcher's shop when we moved into the area fifty odd years ago. Now it is a popular Wine Bar. preview.ibb.co/kcOBpn/The_Woodman.jpg

The mediaeval Great Hall at Eltham Palace, childhood home (one of many) of Henry VIII. The second shot shows the interior of the Great Hall. This magnificent arch braced hammer beam roof was constructed around 1470. Strange to think that at one low point in its history, this building was used as a barn! It was finally rescued in the 1930's and became part of the palatial Art Deco home of millionaires Stephen and Virginia Cortauld.
