My attempt to create a painterly image from a point & shoot photo. I'll let you be the judge. Joe

Hope you're happy with it! I think it came out great! Love the texture and the painterly effect. Do you mind sharing what you used to create the look?

Good job. I will have to show this to the wife; she has got some nephews she might want to try it on. Thanks for sharing.

Fabulous. Which method did you use for this?

Thank you all for the generous comments; they are humbly appreciated. Helen and Bayla, I'll try to explain how it was put together. The major edit was the Topaz Impression's Cezanne preset in High Key. The background layer was edited in Camera RAW. Several copies were made and and each one given a particular effect. Next, I attached an inverted layer mask(black) to all the copies, then painted back in the the effects I wanted to include with the brush tool(foreground set to white). This is what my layer bin looked like, working from bottom to top: Levels adjustment layer in Screen mode Unsharp Mask for eyes, nostrils and lips Emboss for hair depth Negative Clarity in RAW and Diffuse Glow for skin softness and brightness of skin Topaz Impression, Cezanne preset for global painterly effect Background, first edited in RAW. This is base for the copies above it.
All layers had opacity adjustments. The flattened image was given a sandstone texture.
The subject is Tyson, my eighth grandchild. Number 9 will be here in August. GOOD GRIEF! Joe
