Hi Sepiana, my steps were to create a post, then click on the add image to post via imgbb.com, then I click on add image from my computer- when it's finished uploading and the link then appears in my post - then I delete the bits at the front up to the https: and the bits at the back after .jpg and then hit create post. I've add the image again to see what happens this time. Helen said that she could only see the links in my last IOW post also, but when I did it I could see the images then, but not today when I checked the IOW post again. ? preview.ibb.co/mzkwPS/sendintheclowns.jpg

And it looks like just the link showing up again, not the image. There must be gremlins out there...

Jackie, thanks for the explanation! I believe I know what is causing the problem. It is this step:
"then I delete the bits at the front up to the https: and the bits at the back after .jpg"
Try this.
1. Click on the "Add image to post via imgbb.com" button. 2. After you have selected the image to upload from your computer, just click on the "Upload" button. 3. When the upload is done, the link will be displayed in the message box. Click on the "BBCode" button; then click on the "Preview" button. You will see your image. 4. Click on the "Create Post" button.

Hi jackscrap, And it looks like just the link showing up again, not the image. There must be gremlins out there... No, there are no gremlins. What you are seeing is exactly as expected given you have .... then I delete the bits at the front up to the https: and the bits at the back after .jpg and then hit create post. ... This is the BBcode that is created when you upload an image via "Add image to post via imgbb.com". (the web addresses below are just samples) [url=https://ibb.co/iG0qMp][img]https://preview.ibb.co/cyvd67/bird_xyz.jpg[/img][/url] In simple terms, it is a url tag wrapped around an img tag. The img tag is the html container in your post where the image will be displayed and contains the actual web address to your image file. The url tag creates a link on the image which when clicked will take you to the enlargement. Therefore if you remove everything before and after the "https:.....jpg" you are removing the img tag (image's html container) and the link to the enlargement that wraps around the img tag, so all you will see is the web address to your image. Sometimes web addresses in a web page that are not actually inside a url tag will still be rendered as a link, as in your case. Toggling between Preview and BBcode mode in your post editor will sometimes insert/repair code that is faulty or missing - depends on how many "smarts" have been programmed into the bbcode "engine" but it's normally wise to not alter any generated code unless you are sure of what the consequences will be. So the bottom line here is, when you upload an image via "Add image to post via imgbb.com", do not remove/delete any of the code that is generated. It is there for a purpose.Hope this helps

Jackie,
I hope you don't mind. I made a Moderator's decision and fixed the problem. Also, I added a note to your OP about it. All I did was to follow the steps I posted earlier in this thread. To recap, . . .

As a side note, . . .
It is a different story if you use imgbb to upload an image to your Gallery. There is some "deletion" involved.

I can see in the original post's BBcode that the code I discussed in my previous post and originally deleted by the OP has been put back by a mod after my previous post. Pity it wasn't done when the OP first raised the issue
It is a different story if you use imgbb to upload an image to your Gallery. There is some "deletion" involved. According to the instructions the deletion involved in this case is not actually statement code that performs a function. You are asked to just delete the string of characters in a comment field. "Delete the string that was placed in the Comment field" A comment field is generally just a label to provide information. The string of characters inside a comment field is not the type of BBcode I suggested not deleting in my previous post.

Sorry, have no idea why it isn't working then. I noticed that happening in your IOW post as well. Perhaps someone else will suggest a solution.
Helen,
If you are still following this thread, you will be pleased to know that the problem has been solved. The culprit was just one extra step in the image uploading process.

To test my theory, I went ahead and edited Jackie's OP. Bingo! The image is now being displayed (instead of a link).

Pity it wasn't done when the OP first raised the issue That is a complete unnecessary response. Locking the thread.
