Hi everyone,
Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread.
- Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else.
- Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation.
- Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.

Same road, slightly different look at it. Can't decide which I prefer - I think the first one. Both shot with Canon 60D, 70-200 f4 L IS, f8 @ 1/160 sec, ISO 200. Photo taken on Sunday... maybe beat the start by a few hours, but I'm posting anyway.  It's been overcast and misty here for 3 days - very unusual for Colorado, even in the spring. It has greened up the countryside but it makes for more difficult photography. That's quite a road, Rick! Love seeing pictures from the different areas where our members live. Often someone else's "familiar" scenes
are so very different from what I experience on my daily travels. Oh, and my preference would be for the top one.....but maybe crop off the blurred
part at the top of the road. Green is often such a difficult color to get right. I think your top one looks very natural.

That's quite a road, Rick! Love seeing pictures from the different areas where our members live. Often someone else's "familiar" scenes are so very different from what I experience on my daily travels. Yeah... we live in an area where I think God forgot to put trees, but there is a subtle beauty to the prairie. It really shows itself in the spring after it gets a little bit of moisture. I tend to agree. I was sort of looking at that when I cropped the second one, but I took out the sky, and that may have been a mistake. The good thing about using Lightroom and shooting RAW is that no edits are permanent. I can always dial back as far as I want, right to the original image. |

Unlike Preeb's rolling road here the roads are generally flat but head north and the roads come to an abrupt end at Lake Huron - in this case three feet past that sign and it's a sheer drop down to the lake. Erosion from storms over the past few years means that sign is moving back down the road. So definitely a road to a dead-end should you go too far!  Tony |

The good thing about using Lightroom and shooting RAW is that no edits are permanent. I can always dial back as far as I want, right to the original image. And that's just what I've been doing this afternoon! Just want to add that I love your avatar image! That photo for my avatar was taken nearly 40 years ago on transparency film. The tree is long gone (as too is the fisherman). There is no public access to that lake at all now. It was fenced off with a high chain link fence 30 years ago after someone drowned there. That is a common policy in Colorado, something that I find foreign to my thinking, having grown up in Minnesota. If they tried to fence off every lake in Minnesota.... well lets just say that it's not going to happen. This is the original:  |

Just in front of that car, is the River Tees. The car is waiting for the gondola to return to this side. So, I suppose this can be called - End of the road.

Rick, two great images! I also prefer the first one. Great composition, beautiful tonal range! I love the portrait-orientation; it brings out the "roller-coaster" feeling of the road.
I appreciate your honesty about the time when you took your shots. That's commendable -- abiding by the rules. 
That's unusual indeed. I have been to Colorado many times. The usual has been . . . blue skies, dry weather. |

Tony Tony, I love the leading lines created by the road itself and the ground on each side of it, and the symmetry touch in your composition (which you and I are so fond of). The road seems to have a magnetic effect, drawing our eyes towards that road sign. Beautiful shot! |

whippet, both shots -- great interpretation of this theme. If I had to pick out one, I would go for the first one. Blue sky, clouds, the curvy lines of the road, and the question that it generates. Where is this road going? |

Thank you, Sepiana. With the second shot, I would have liked to stand further back, so the road I was standing on (properly tarmacked) would be in there too. Unfortunately, the river was right behind me. |

BTW, don't forget to check the next WP challenge. You are going to love the theme; it is just up your alley.
As a side note -- Thanks for the memories! I have driven along I-5 more than once, from San Diego in the south to somewhere north of Los Angeles (San Fernando?).
