ATTENTION:
Make sure you have the latest version of Topaz Studio (v. 1.11.15) before you install AI Clear. You can learn why in the thread below.

Hi fotofrank ... As I stated before, most noise reduction programs reduce noise by blurring the image, clearly Topaz AI Clear did not. ... I have been reading up on AI Clear at help.topazlabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003861391-AI-Clear and I can't see anywhere on that web page, or any other web page on their web site, where they describe how the noise is actually removed. All I can see is that they have developed a custom neural network to detect noise but they don't say how they then actually remove it. It could be by blurring as well as far as I can tell. Can you post a link or information that shows conclusively that AI Clear does not use blurring as you have assumed above. I also do not believe their claim on that web page - Their claim is inconsistent with my findings, the findings of Sydney (as he posted earlier) and the comments he has observed in the Topaz forums. I just simply do not blindly accept unsubstantiated statements on the www by anyone. The range of observations on the quality of AI Clear posted in this thread so far only strengthen Sydney's and my suggestion to anyone considering AI Clear to first trial it and make up their own minds. Thank you.

Here is the link to how topaz AI works -https://help.topazlabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003861391-AI-Clear
Hopefully this will dispel your assumption that it just blurs the noise. I didn't assume anything.

That's exactly the same link I posted earlier after which I said: Please copy and paste into a post the information on that page which conclusively shows they do not use blurring to remove noise, because I can't see any such information there. I haven't seen any information anywhere that shows they do not use blurring, so until then it is quite reasonable for anyone to suspect they do. If the information is there, then I will have to get new spectacles It could be that they use their new custom neural network to detect the noise and then use the same "engine"/algorithms as in their DeNoise (by blurring or otherwise) to actually remove it. I am interested in the actual differences between AI Clear and their other noise removal modules, especially after Sydney's observations that DeNoise does a better job than AI Clear.

Sydney, that is very interesting. I love Topaz DeNoise and have been wondering if AI Clear would produce better results. I was going to buy it, but will now do some comparisons first.

Pat Well, in my particular testing I felt DeNoise did a noticeably better job than AI Clear. I would certainly encourage you to run comparisons and decide for yourself though as you might find differently. Here are 2 Topaz discussion threads where others have weighed in about Ai Clear: discuss.topazlabs.com/t/try-ai-clear-pro-version/6406/5discuss.topazlabs.com/t/ai-clear-trial-discussion/6415

Hi Sydney, Your 2 Topaz threads are a fantastic example of why people should "try before you buy" and where possible compare software applications and not just blindly believe the unsubstantiated marketing hype on manufacturers' web sites and advertising material and reviews. Yes, all that information as a whole can be very useful and helpful in making an informed choice once all the misinformation and noise (excuse the pun ) has been filtered out. I, for one, have no time for unsubstantiated claims/statements on the www by anyone. Until they are substantiated, I see them as just opinions and/or thoughts.

Pat, just make sure you have the latest version of Topaz Studio. I forgot to update it on my second computer before installing the AI Clear trial and had some problems (mostly related to the syncing feature).

This discussion needs another noise reducer … Neat Image. ... Hi Pete, I use Neat Video for noise removal in my video editing. It does an amazing job but there is a bit of an initial learning curve in order to make use of all its power. If Neat Image is anywhere near as good as its counterpart Neat Video, and I have no reason to suspect it isn't, then it's definitely worth a look at as well.

We've gotten a bit off track with this thread, which was simply to announce the release of a new product. It has turned into an interesting, but off-topic, discussion. I encourage the creation of a new thread if members want to discuss the pros and cons of their favorite noise reduction software.
