Thanks Judy and Karen. I live in a high-rise condo so I just have to open my balcony door to try to capture the lightning. There was so much last night, that by shooting long exposures I was able to get a few.

I didn't think I was breaking any rules because in my Playing with Landscapes and Colours thread hmca and PeteB downloaded my image. PeteB clearly edited it without me asking when he posted that he tried hmca's solution and it worked.Bailey Rule 3 seems to speak to the re-posting of another person's image (without permission). For the record, I did not re-post your landscape image. Please, do not drag me into this controversy and make me a scapegoat. If you did not have permission to edit and re-post Helen's image, apologize and let's move on. This is suppose to be fun!

PeteB clearly edited it without me asking when he posted that he tried hmca's solution and it worked. I had no problem with that at all and I appreciated their feedback. I hope there isn't one rule for moderators and another rule for us mere mortal members
I quite agree with you Bailey, and I know your input was appreciated (by some of us). Speaking just for myself, I am embarrassed by the mean-spirited response that was posted.
Hi Tpgettys,
Thank you for your reply. Please rest assured I am not offended by Sepiana's "attack". If I was, I would have reacted totally differently. From the feedback I have received, her comment says more about her character than the "food for thought" and not "final" image I posted.
I come from a web programming background and I have seen most, if not all, of the types of mind games a minority of people play on the Internet. I am on the wrong side of 60 to take any attacks personally.
I suppose if a moderator on one of my web sites behaved in the same way attacking a member I would be very disappointed in the moderator. Sometimes people forget that when they post in an environment like this, it is not a one-on-one communication and anyone with access to the Internet can see it. It could also pop up in Google searches or social media with the effect of tarnishing a web site's reputation.
If visitors new to photography and/or image editing looking for a forum to get help/advice see moderators (or any members, but especially moderators) behaving poorly, it would be quite reasonable for them to go look elsewhere.
This forum is by far one of the better ones I post on and I am happy to continue posting here and try to help where appropriate
Thank you again and I will now let this thread get back on track.

Bailey , it is quite interesting how my quote was placed out of context. More interesting it is the fact that both Simone and I were on the same wavelength. We are both in total agreement re your editing of Helen's image.
www.photoshopelementsandmore.com/post/47701
Furthermore, Simone and I, as Moderators, were not out of bounds in bringing Rule #3 up to your attention. (If anyone is curious about this rule, here is the pertinent section of it.)
Rule 3 - Copyrighted materialYou must own the rights to the photos you post here. If you are editing the work of another, you must have their permission to use their photo. For photos posted on this forum, unless given explicit permission to do so by the original poster (OP) of an image, you are asked not to edit, retouch or modify their image as part of giving them feedback. Stock photos for use in contests are allowed, provided they have been obtained appropriately.
And here are the reasons why we, Mods/Admins implemented this rule
1) There have been some questions raised about forum members providing feedback on other member's posted images, including feedback via editing of the original post. This has caused some concerns, so we've made a couple of changes:- We've added a new field to everyone's user profile. You now have the option of saying whether you are open to constructive criticism of your photos that you post. This will show up whenever you post, clearly indicating your preference to other forum members. You can set this up by editing your profile (Profile/Edit Profile/Personal). If a member elects to not want constructive criticism of their photos, we ask that everyone respect that. This is a friendly forum and we want to keep it that way. - We've updated the forum rules to prohibit any forum member from editing the work of another forum member without obtaining permission of the original poster. You must obtain that permission directly - a user who states a preference for wanting constructive criticism of their photos must still expressly give permission to another member to edit their photo. As Simone pointed out in her post, . . . "going by the wording of your post, you did not get [express permission] from Helen in advance".
Spectacular capture and photo hmca
but on my screen there seems to be a bluish colour cast in the image, especially the clouds. I would think they should be a darkish grey colour.
So unfortunately I couldn't help myself and had to have a tinker with it in PSE . I hope you don't mind.
The histogram's Blue channel shows way too much blue compared to the red and green channels.
So all I did to try to improve the colours was add a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer, selected the Blues channel and lowered saturation to -53 and Lightness to -77. On my screen this gives a dark grey tone to the image, especially the clouds. With a Brush set to 50% grey from the Colour Swatches palette I painted everything except the clouds on the layer mask and came up with this: I think there might still be too much of a blue cast in the bottom half of the image, but that you could edit to suit or just return the layer mask to all white. Please don't take this as criticism but just as my 2c worth of food for thought
Why don't you just follow Pete's advice and move on?

Top shot, Helen. Sounds like it was a great light show. I can't remember the last time I have seen lightning - maybe a year or 18 months ago I think.
