Creative Effects Challenge No. 80 – Difference

In this extremely long tutorial, we will use the “difference” BlendMode to create a custom image.

To this in an easy few steps
Let’s get started:
1. Open your Image.
2. Duplicate your Image (Ctrl/Cmd+J)
3. Change the BLENDMODE on the top layer to Difference (Alt/Option+Shift+e) – Yes, the entire Image goes black.
4. Select the Move tool (v on the keyboard)
5. Make sure the top layer is selected and use the up arrow and the right arrow to move the image until it appears.
6. If you have moved it to far in any direction use the opposite arrow key to move it back.
7. Done
Because you moved the top image, your image will now show the overlap. To eliminate it you can crop the image, or create a composite layer (Ctrl/Cmd+Alt/Option+shift+e) and paint over it to match the background.
Your almost done – extra credit time.
You can add a Hue & Saturation adjustment layer and change the color.
