Thanks, Rita. It is always helpful to read the process that someone went through when creating their entry. I do have PS, and have seen some tuts on Blend If. I need to adopt your method of "playing" with things to get a better handle on them. I know that would be the best way to learn something new.
Margaret....I agree with Lillias. AND your ability to create what you have imagined has improved dramatically!
Frank....like your torn paper effect. It's almost like you are revealing its former glory.

Thank you helen. Unfortunately, the image I used as background was a lot smaller than Villa, so I had to reduce that size. You may not be able to tell, but in the upstairs window, is the skeleton of his mother. And downstairs, is the shower scene. My original intention was to do ghosts - but Lillias got there before me.
Frank. Love your comment with your picture.

Margaret....saw the shower scene and the skeleton...although I didn't remember it was his mother. Nice work on your newest entry as well.

OK.....I am not one to "play" around......follow a tut, a recipe gladly. However, after reading Rita's post above and then seeing Lillias' I decided a little play might have some benefits. Wasn't able to duplicate your results (minus the add-ons....tree etc.) but it did get me to experiment to see if I could come close. So here's what I got......using PSCC: And here's how I got there: What I would have liked to introduce was the blue/yellow color you had in yours. Don't want to make a lot of work for you but am wondering how did you add the blue/yellow?

Don't want to make a lot of work for you but am wondering how did you add the blue/yellow? The blue or the yellow was just a happy accident as the result of the process I followed working with the photo which was as follows... I’ve since discovered this doesn’t work for every photo but I think it worked very well for this one. Using the Smart Brush Tool and from the Photographic Preset section of said tool I chose the Photographic Negative brush and brushed over the whole photo. In the layers panel you will see the new adjustment layer that was created and I selected that layer and then chose the ‘Difference’ Blend mode to give the result you see. I created a stamped layer and added the two trees and that’s it. Yours is along similar lines Frank.

Thanks, Lillias! It is interesting to see how you and Frank both got basically the same results.......using the full PS compared with PE! Worked a treat Frank.....

@ Frank.
Tried following your instructions. I was fine until - Added two tree with Filter>Render>Tree . I just could not find trees.
So I clicked 'Difference' again. Then 'Posterize'. (Even though I hadn't a clue what that was.) Oh, and then I painted the trees which were there.

Great result Margaret!
Filter>Render>trees or Flames is only in the full version of Photoshop.

I love the colouring, Sepiana. And the frame is a great compliment to the picture.
