At a children's play area. With temperatures 100+ degrees, it's a welcome sight. kdcintx, great shot! I really like how you composed it -- up close to the subject, drawing our eyes to the falling water. One can almost feel the water drops.

We came across this "mini waterfall" on Monday while we took some visitors for a walk through The Dandenongs. Bailey, nice (and colorful) finding for this theme! A mini waterfall. Not an everyday sight.

Taken at the Arizona Desert Museum Pete, great thinking out of the box! I really like how you composed your shot -- the water on the ground drawing our eyes to the falling water. Very effective!

Barely a trickle but if you look closely you can see water falling from this outdoor water feature. Helen, great image -- sharp, clear details! We can definitely see the water falling.

Here is one I shot this morning while walking in the city. The only processing I have done is to sharpen it.

Wow, amazing colours Sydney
Is that a white paper/plastic plate to the left of centre near the bottom edge that has been discarded by someone? Whatever it is, I would probably clone it out. I find it distracting and imho tends to be a bit of an eye magnet which I would imagine is not what you would like viewers to focus on.

Peterj ,
Two more great interpretations of this week's theme!
Fun times for the kids -- I love the mix of the human element with the falling water. Beautiful colorful image! It spells "fun".
Nature shot -- Great composition, with elements of interest from the foreground to the background. Well done!

Thanks Bailey, I hadn't noticed that until after the fact. I have cloned it out per your suggestion. It really was an eyesore to be sure.

Very nice photo billz .
Out of curiosity, did you also take a photo with a fast shutter speed to freeze the water to compare with the slow shutter speed effect. Normally in these situations, if I have my tripod, I take photos with fast and slow shutter speeds so I can see which works best when I look at them on my computer at home.
Thanks Bailey. I did take a regular shutter speed shot to help me compose the shot, but I artistically I much preferred the dragged shutter. Thanks again for the nice comment.

Lovely picture, Sydney.

Ira Keller Fountain in Portland. Thanks for the theme Sepiana and kdcintx! ISO 100, f16, 3.2 sec, 3-stop ND filter. Bill, you nailed this shot (on all counts) -- composition, DOF, tonal range, and . . . smooth, silky water. Absolutely beautiful! I just keep going back to it.

Thanks Bailey. I did take a regular shutter speed shot to help me compose the shot, but I artistically I much preferred the dragged shutter. Thanks again for the nice comment. No problem billz Yes, it can be a difficult choice some times. For me, frozen water motion tends to show the "power" of the flowing water, while the milky/blurred effect tends to create a serene mood for the scene. If I have time, I usually play around with various apertures and focal lengths (to vary the depth of field) and also where possible take photos from various vantage points to see which works best, especially if I intend to make a print at the end of it all.
