Thanks to Alex for hosting last month's B&W challenge and to everyone who submitted silhouettes. I was recently in Florida and was taking pictures for an assignment topic of "Through". I thought this would be fun to try for this month's black and white challenge as well. Anything that you could look through will work. Here are three very different images to get you started thinking about this month's theme. All images were converted using Silver Efex Pro.

Thanks Helen. Fun idea. Looking through our kitchen bay window. January 3, 2019. The orchids love it here and live 3 to 5 years...one or more are in bloom almost every month or the year. Your "Droste effect" mirror image reminded me...I am looking through the lens into a mirror. May 5, 2006, at the (then) Singapore Hotel in Harbin, China. Shot inside the elevator. I am a bit unsure about this...I think there was a solid mirror on the back wall and the doors were also mirrored. (I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning, but I recalled this photo. )

Thanks for getting us started, Clive. I like the way the rectangular windows frame your orchids. The elevator photo reminds me how photography enthusiasts see opportunity in the most unlikely places at times. Fun idea!

PeteB.......love what you are doing with that ball.....makes me want one......also makes me wonder if were you using a tripod or are strong enough to hold your camera in one hand! Thanks for adding your conversion choice....love the soft tones on the background and the texture you brought out on the hand. Tpgettys......like the way you have bordered your image. Your composition invites the viewer to take a walk through the woods.....could see this hanging large in a doctor's office......calming effect.

Thanks Helen, The LensBall was a Christmas gift and I have been having fun experimenting with it. The photo posted here is one of my first attempts to use it. It was an attempt to answer some of the questions you have asked. My LensBall is an 80mm size and it is heavy but it can be hand held with a SLR. A stand that attaches to a tripod is available. At this time, I am experimenting with using different lenses; different compositions; and post production editing. Here is a link to the LensBall website lensball.com

Hope you don't mind me having my say, here, Helen.
I just wanted you all to know that I think your images are brilliant. And your first picture - of the gate - just took my breath away, Helen.

Don't try this while driving at speed on a busy road but this was taken while stationary on a very quiet road with a fish-eye lens and converted to B&W in Topaz. Tony
