Clive is actually very close. Think what famously happened in Germany in 1936. But it is not that, but it is very closely related (the last time these two repeating events happened in the same country in the same year). And of course you may have noticed that I'm just being mysterious about it to make the picture seem more interesting than it actually is.  |

MY GARAGE IS NOT GETTING CLEANED!  I am easily distracted from doing actual work, so it is all good and I can do it tomorrow or Tuesday.  Okay, so there were Olympics in Germany in 1936. So it is some sort of race track. Steeplechase on bikes? Pentathlon hill climb? Skiing? There is snow in your photo. |

I've just got back from a week in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, which was the site of the Winter Olympics in 1936, and this is the end of the bobsleigh run. The wooden boards were added a few years ago to enable bobsleigh races to run again.
