I took this photo today using my mobile phone, inside Croydon Bowling Club. In the past its job was to signal the beginning/end of a bowling session. It has now been replaced by an electronic clock, but the bell remains as an old friend.. i.ibb.co/3BsStWf/CIBC.jpg

Staying at a hotel and coincidentally there was a Bell Canada meeting going on so had to get a picture. Bell Canada has its origins in Alexander Graham Bell who invented the telephone not too far from where we were staying. Tony

One more bell - this one was on top of the town hall here for over 100 years before a fire in 1989 caused it to fall to the ground. The old bell now has a place of honour by the rebuilt town hall. Tony

A "sick" bell. As I recall my grandfather, who died in ca 1952, used this when he was unwell before he passed. The original purpose is not known to me and it could have been a classroom bell. I suspect it dates to the 1800s.
I took this photo in April 2018 after getting my new camera and running some high ISO tests. This was shot as jpg at ISO 4,000 on our dining room sideboard.

Probably common bluebell (Campanula rotundifolia). Taken in 2004 with my first digital camera a 3 MP, Nikon 995.
Seems washed out at this end.

Figuring that a "spork" would trigger a Taco Bell reaction, I visited this morning for first meal. Mostly I got mediocre breakfast and a boring photo. Fortunately I caught up with a fire truck and got a better bell. As always ... thanks to our fantastic firefighters! Thanks for the theme Sepiana!
Bill, You may consider your first photo boring but you nailed the DOF.
The second photo? I love it! Zooming in and capturing all the details. Great job!

Dinner bells from my wife's collection. I used new light box to capture 3 at a time and the paper background separately. Another from my wife's collection
Pete, nicely done! I particularly like the second shot. That dinner bell is a beauty!

Dennis
Dennis, great finding and, as usual, one with a history! I love how you zoomed in your old friend, with a spot-on focus. Well done!

Tony, with the eyes of a photographer and camera-ready. Great shot, one with your trademark (colorful and with clear details). The historical information is a bonus!

Walking in London this morning, I found this Bell hiding down a side lane in the City - while further on in Spitalfields I found ten of them!
Brenda
Brenda, great finding! Your walking with your camera paid off. I love how you included a "view' of the buildings in your shots. It gives context to the 10 + 1 bells.

Tony, great job capturing the details/texture of that bell; we can easily read the engraving on it. Beautiful image!

Clive, two beautiful images and a touching personal history to go with the first one. Thanks for acknowledging that these two images were from your portfolio/archive! Hopefully you will come back and delight our members with a photo (or photos) along the lines of the WP challenge -- taken during or after the week a given theme is posted.

Hi Sepiana Clive, two beautiful images and a touching personal history to go with the first one. Thanks for acknowledging that these two images were from your portfolio/archive! Hopefully you will come back and delight our members with a photo (or photos) along the lines of the WP challenge -- taken during or after the week a given theme is posted.
Given you have in the past accepted images that were clearly taken before the week of the challenge I assume you are not aware that if there is any exif data embedded in the image you can see most of it when you click the image to view the enlargement. The capture date (which might or might not be real) usually appears at the bottom of the displayed exif data. This way you can check if the image is allowed or not without relying on members to declare when they took the photo. If there is no exif data then you have little chance to determine when the image was taken. Sometimes it will be obvious, sometimes it will not. But I don't think it should make any difference when the image was taken since the purpose of this challenge is to encourage people to use their camera, but that's just mho. I use my camera every week anyway but don't always have time to go looking for a subject for the week's theme. So if I can, I will post an image taken during the week otherwise I will continue to post previous images that suit the theme. Whether you comment on submitted images doesn't really matter. I'm sure people, as I do, decide for themselves which one's they like and what they like/dislike about them. I see this weekly challenge as a bit like Members' Choice but with a set theme. HTH

Oops.
I'll try to pay more attention in the future. Doubt if there and bells in this neck of the woods.
