Hi ritage Helen, I had to give some thought on how to show my final workflow because I tried this only once before and made some false starts first Hope this explains it. Thank you for sharing how you did it. I too wondered how it can be done. After seeing how you did it, I am now wondering if there is an easier way without having to use as many layers. I haven't actually tried this but maybe something like this would also create the same effect. 1. Warp the image to suit. 2. Place a layer filled with white above the Warp Layer. 3. Use your silhouette shape (filled with black as you have) as a layer mask for the White Layer. 4. Use the Move Tool to move the Warp Layer until you get something you like coming through the White Layer's layer mask. The above uses just 2 layers and can be done in PSE. In any case, thank you again for sharing how you created your image as I would never have figured it out by myself.

Bailey, the workflow you suggest is of course quite adequate, and actually doing the warp as the first step is what I tried first, and what I referred to as my false starts, because when fitted to the silhouette it just made unrelated streaks over it. Some quite pretty, but meaningless. I wanted it to give shape and recognizable content to the face, which became possible when I put the outline guide in between and fitted the warp as closely as I could get it to the implied contours.

ritage.....gave this a try.....I had two main issues. First I couldn't figure out how to keep the starter image in color when I tried to combine it with the silhouette......so just went with B/W. Second....don't know what I'm doing with the warp tool......ended up filling his pants with black as nothing seemed to look good. Oh and the face.....just wasn't happening. All that being said it was a fun play. If you could just tell me what I need to do to keep the color when adding to the silhouette I may try it again.

Helen, if I understand you correctly, you seem to have merged the starter with the figure. That would not work. You use only the selection, the running ants, of the figure to make the cut-out from the warp layer. However, you could instead use the figure as a clipping mask for the warp layer. That might seem more intuitive and should give the correct result.
The Warp Tool is difficult to use. It took me for ever to get what I wanted, although I knew exactly where I wanted it to go before I started. I plan to get some practice with it.

Thanks, Rita. Tried this again and not sure what I did the first time but at least now I have used the waterfall image within his outline.
