Really like your overall design, Peter. There are three things that could perhaps use a little tweaking I think. The color of the two strips....neither one seems to work well for me.....I am wondering if a cream strip might work better? I seem to remember ChrisAnn and Bailey discussing something similar recently. Also I wonder if the edges of the blue square could blend in better. Perhaps Lillias or moss might have a suggestion. They both do beautiful scrapbook pages.

Hi Peter. I’m thinking that the main photo with the building is what is providing the blue colour! I am with Helen here in that I feel the edges could be more imaginatively blended. For example you could use a ‘cloud’ brush as a clipping mask with the photo giving it a much more pleasing appearance. I also feel that it would look nicer if you kept both your colour strips under the text the same colour. The example I have made up below shows the text at the bottom laid on top of a rectangle which I coloured white and then reduced the opacity way down to 27%. So the text is plainly visible but the strip isn’t taking the attention away from the text, nor is it covering up what is underneath. On my example I have used a ‘cloud’ brush as a clipping mask with the photo. I have included the original photo so that you could see the difference when used with the clipping mask. Credit: Image from Pexels. At the end of the day it’s what you are happy with that counts. If you are interested in going down the route of the cloud brushes you can get them at the link below. www.deviantart.com/devirose81/art/Cloud-Brushes-Set-Vol-2-687586725

I understand that you didn't want to edit Peter's image directly, Lillias. I am just pointing that out to members that might think you were suggesting a whole new layout. Thanks for your suggestions and the link to the brushes.

Oh no I absolutely wasn’t suggesting a whole new layout. There is nothing wrong with the layout that Peter has. I don’t have access to the photo that Peter used in his layout and the only way I could think of to show what I was suggesting was to use another photo in its place.

The color of the two strips....neither one seems to work well for me.....I am wondering if a cream strip might work better? I seem to remember ChrisAnn and Bailey discussing something similar recently. ChrisAnn posted a recent thread about . . . "I've never used an Action but I am about to process about 100 photos from our recent holiday and I want to give each one a caption either at the bottom or the top. In the past I've added an extra inch or so of white space using Resize> Canvas Size and added my caption using the type tool."
Is this the one you are thinking of? Can an Action add a blank space at the bottom of a photo?

Peterj Just one quick comment. Lillias did use a different font and I like it better. There might be other fonts that are more "space age" like. One again I ask, "Where do those 50 years go?" Clive

Peterj , I like BillieJean's suggestion . . . . . . the text at the bottom laid on top of a rectangle which I coloured white and then reduced the opacity way down to 27%. So the text is plainly visible but the strip isn’t taking the attention away from the text, nor is it covering up what is underneath. Here is another way to accomplish this effect. (This is the beauty of Elements; more than one way to do the same thing!) 1. Type your text on a separate file. Black text on a white background. 2. Copy/paste the text on your photo. 3. Change the blending mode to Multiply. The white background will disappear; only the black text will be visible.

Thanks, Sepiana. Yes that was the discussion I was thinking of.....specifically these three posts: Lillias covered it in her post above. The example I have made up below shows the text at the bottom laid on top of a rectangle which I coloured white and then reduced the opacity way down to 27%. So the text is plainly visible but the strip isn’t taking the attention away from the text, nor is it covering up what is underneath. And here is the link to the tut that Dean mentions.

Thanks to everyone ... changed font, removed the color background from text, masked out sky, went with a single Ascent sculpture rather than to one I duplicated.
Ascent is the sculpture at the entrance of the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air and Space Museum located in Chantilly, VA.

Nicely done Peter. Can I just say you have missed out the word 'ago' in the bottom piece of text. Thought I better say in case you are going to print this out and hadn't noticed yourself...

After having spent so much time on this Peter....if you aren't tired of working on it, I think the font suggested by Sepiana or something similar, might work better with your overall theme.
Sorry....couldn't keep myself from responding.

Posted by BillieJean Thank You! ... I totally missed it.
Posted by hmca No need to be sorry ... I did request CC.
I searched for Futura and found it on Adobe, however it's only available to cc subscribers. Also I don't have MS Word and Futura isn't available for Libre Office.
Once again Thanks for all for suggestions. I believe you've all helped me make this a better page.
