Good ones Helen (and all the others) - those are excellent examples of what can be done with Gradient Maps - and those two gradient sets are particularly good ones.

One more - I was playing around with a B&W adjustment layer below a Gradient Map adjustment layer and tweaking the colour sliders in the B&W layer and adding colours to the gradient map. Here's where I finished up. Although my latest Elements (PSE13) doesn't have the B&W adjustment layer I have an action that will add one and you can adjust the colour sliders initially but once set you can't go back - but adding the gradient map first and then running the action on the layer below it lets play with the B&W adjustments and see the changes on the end result. - Applied a Yellow-to-Red gradient by Blake Rudis (Soft Light blending mode, 100% Opacity). - Applied the same gradient again but this time used the Overlay blending mode (100% Opacity). - Created the border effect with Filter Forge (Mask Frame). - Starter image for EP #115.

Although PSE doesn't come with the PS Photographic Toning gradients you can get them from here . Download the ColorToninGMAL.psd template file, ungroup the layers (with my PSE13 I needed an ungroup layer action to do that) and you'll find all the toning gradients there that you can save. Thanks, Tony! Users of PSE 14 and earlier can download this action -- Dconsc’ s Layer Groups. If you have Elements+ you can ungroup all the layer sets in one go.

heatherlypreciousmetals gradient and blurring tool Rita, I am curious. Did you use a gold gradient to create that effect? Which blending mode did you use? I find your portrait entry fascinating; I keep gong back to it.

I find your portrait entry fascinating; I keep gong back to it. Sepiana, the heatherpreciousmetals gradients are a set of presets I downloaded a long time ago. They probably came from some site that offers sets by the dozens and I cannot find them online anymore. It was just a one-click adjustment, blendmode normal. This is what they look like
Sorry, I know this is not much help. I just squirrel these things away and keep them forever.

Glad you found them Sepiana. This happens to me all the time, I search for something and then find it in my own bottomless Resource folder
