Frank, great tutorial -- just a few steps, very interesting effect, and . . . room for tweaking. Lots of fun ahead! - Created the background with Filter Forge (Cross-stitch Pattern). - Created the frame effect with Filter Forge (Halftone Frame). - Image from Pixabay.

Great challenge Frank. Image from Pexels Followed the tutorial and then added a mask and a texture from 2 Lil Owls to which I applied the Colour Burn blend mode.

Wow - These are all excellent! Thanks for the comments and trying this out.
Sepiana - Thanks for getting this off to a great start. That Background worked extremely well with this challenge.
Lillias - What an outstanding take on tweaking this effect.
Sepiana - Way to cute - a true holiday card.
Tony - It looks like it came right out of a comic book.

Quick fun...thanks, Frank. Added a mask (need practice with those) and a slight edge suing a textured brush.

Helen your textured brush edge adds a lot to the image.
Blackmutt, there is nothing feeble about your attempt - I could see that in a comic book.
Sepiana - very nice border and effect on the car.
Lillias - a great take on the effect with the inner frame - Great work.

1st try. I wasn't able to resize the brush (no. 2). When I changed the width to 800 pixels, the height automatically changed with it to some obscure number. So I left the image at the original size. The 'healing brush' (no. 8). I searched all over, but couldn't find where it may be hiding. So, this is the result I came up with. Image. G.P.A.
