I am truly going to agree with a Maurice -"The quantity of posts is not an indicator of substantial quality." I would even go further and say of any quality.
If you need/want to change the ranking, add in what else the individual does on this forum - i.e. Judge, Creative Effects contributor, Endless possibilities.

I do agree that it is important that any Mods or Admins on a forum be easily identified. Rankings aren’t something I can get worked up about, sorry. I will go along with whatever our Admins decide if it is felt that change is necessary.

If a member asks a question, a response from a ' Senior Contributor' can be interpreted as having more credibility than one from a ' Casual Forum Member'. And I am here, proving that it is not always the case. I am not interested in 'rankings' - except admin and mods. But, I must admit that I do like to see members' locations. It is nice to know that this forum spreads almost as far north we can go, to as far south.

Number of posts works for me. I know I once commented on the “like” button. As I am not a fan of the Facebook world of likes etc. I tend to be somewhat skimpy on mike “likes” Just rambling. But thanks to those who work so hard on this forum

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Let me try and address a few of the comments: - Much of what we can and can't do is controlled by the ProBoards forum software. We are not able to: - Have stars without forum ranks - Have rankings controlled by anything other than post count - Implement a system where member's contributions can be marked as "helpful" by other members
- Regarding location and names, this is entirely under the control of our members. Each of you can choose to include a location and real name in your profile - or not. It is entirely up to you. As admins, we will never share personal information of forum members.
I don't see us getting rid of the forum ranks. Tom posted my thoughts on the potential value of them earlier in this thread. We will continue to look for better names.
Thank you for your input and your continued support of this forum.

The frequency of contribution may be misleading? If a User submits 10 requests for help, is he/she given the same number of
stars as someone who provides answers to those requests? Is there a way of distinguishing between those who just ask for
help and those who actually do help?

mrdcambs Mike, Thanks. That's a valid comment for sure. I am not an admin, but managing that would be impossible. Clive

After taking into consideration the feedback we received here and elsewhere, and working within the limitations of the ProBoards forum software, the admins decided on the following member ranks, which you will all see in place now. We also decided to do away with the multi-colored stars and settle on one color. The different colors didn't mean anything different that the rank and number of stars, so we didn't feel they added anything. Why dark blue? ProBoards only allows so many colors, and the dark blue choice stands out better than the other. Thank you for your continued support of our forum!

I think those are a good choice for the new ranks Andy and I like how the stars stand out with the blue.
