Very interesting edit, Lillias. Looks like it would make a good placemat (except without the inner ridge ).

You have two weeks to participate in this challenge. It ends on January 25th. At the end of the challenge the image creator will select their three favorite edits. Well here we are two weeks later. Thanks to all who participated in this creative effects challenge with a barrel cactus/desert photo taken in 2015 near Borrego Springs, California. I appreciated all entries, but I have selected four images in all for brief discussion. I could easily have selected a couple of more images. My comments are more subjective than objective. Thanks for the opportunity. BillieJean I just like this. It is rustic and suits the region. This is wild semi-barren desert and the off-the-wall processing just feels right. fotofrank I like the hard crop which accentuates the two barrel cactus (cacti). The enhanced warm colors of the foreground desert are complimented by the deep blue sky that was added. Peterj This minimalist edit is pleasing to my eye. Bordering on slightly washed pastel hues. Interesting how the yellow flowers seem to subtly stand out more. Honorable mention to kdcintx WOW, I just love the colors. It is wild and crazy. My comment now applies to two or three other submissions. Although this is a Creative Effects Challenge, I looked at the outcome as a package. The tight crop at the bottom was too tight for me. I wanted to see the base of the cactus. This is a composition thing vs creative effects. Again, I love the colors and other treatments.
