Sharpening Without Increasing Noise

Here is an interesting video tutorial showing how its possible to sharpen an image without increasing noise. It's very useful to use on some images. Basically, it involves sharpening using the high pass filter and setting the blend mode to overlay. The trick is to apply a noise reduction filter to the high pass layer.  Although Topaz software is featured in the video, any other noise reduction software will work. Probably the smart blur filter within PS Elements will also work.
