The slight mis-match of color, would feathering have fixed that??
Thank you Sepiana and Frank both for your help in this project, that I did not think I could do!!

Another question has now come up. In playing around with the Clone Tool, Sepiana said to use CTRL Alt which I have done to SELECT the area I want to use.... but when I move up to the corner after placing it where I want it, then when I move my mouse around I see other areas of the picture within the circle of the Clone stamp, such as the baby hands. How do I erase that from memory? Charles, It looks like you have the Clone Overlay option turned on. This option shows the clone source area (the area you are going to sample) floating over your original image. This allows you to see precisely how the source area aligns with the original. This option helps with the cloning process -- no more cloning from the wrong spot or cloning unnecessary detail. If you don't like this option, click on the Clone Overlay button and turn off "Show Overlay". NOTE: The Clone Stamp Tool and the Healing Brush share the Overlay option, i.e., whichever settings you select for one tool will apply to the other one.

Thank you Sepiana, Yes it was turned on. That must be a default setting? Since I knew nothing about this I never would have changed it myself. I wanted to use the Snipping Tool to show that yes it was turned on, but when I brought up the Snipping Tool the window showing it was turned on disappeared. How were you able to capture that? I am also "assuming" that it is proper to have the "Aligned" box turned on as mine is. What were your thoughts of my finished corner? Be honest please! I say that since you did not mention it here, it makes me wonder if there was something you did not like??

I did see your earlier question -- "The slight mis-match of color, would feathering have fixed that??". I was waiting for fotofrank 's feedback on it. I was not really sure what was causing the problem -- Not enough feathering? Selection not made from an area adjacent to the repair? Selection too big? I was also wondering if selecting only the flower would take care of the problem. Hopefully, fotofrank will come back here and advise you.

Charles, You are use a hard edge when you make your selection. This is the selection that I made. As an alternative you can select an area near the corner. Copy and paste it and drag it over the corner. You can now mask out any over lap or as much as it pains me to say it, erase it. You can fine tune the color, if needed, by clipping a hue saturation and adjustment layer to the copied section.

I just now saw your post, and wanted to give it a go. Here is what I came up with. I wanted to get rid of the "dirty gray" in the upper left as well as repair the corner. I will be glad to share what I did if you like it; let me know.

Sepiana, I just now found the Print Screen key on my keyboard but have never used it. How do you use it?? I asked about feathering, because I did not try using that at all. I do not remember ever using feathering in my many years of using Elements.

I do not remember how to do a triangle. Masking I used to do 20 years ago, but I use Elements so little anymore there is a lot I do not remember including Masking and clipping a hue saturation and adjustment layer. That is waaaay above my pay grade!

Take into account with what I just mentioned to Frank!

Sepiana, I just now found the Print Screen key on my keyboard but have never used it. How do you use it?? Charles, you use the Print Screen key to capture a screenshot. Then, you can open it in Elements by doing File>New>Image from Clipboard. How to Take Screenshots in Windows 10Feathering softens the edges of your selection; it helps your selection blend seamlessly with the new background.

Sepiana,
You must be like I am... When do you sleep?!?!?!
Thank you for the Print Screen instructions. However I just tried to capture the Clone Overlay screen same as you did, but as soon as I pressed the Windows Logo key, the Clone Overlay popup screen disappeared. So, how did you do that trick?
Where is feathering found again in Elements?
Thank you!

Why not do a white vignette on the image. That would solve all your problems I think. I cropped the original border off, then added the vignette, then added stroke to inside to give a border.

I pressed the Fn key + the Print Screen key. On the top menu bar, go to Select>Feather. I just went back and looked at the instructions for using the Print Screen feature. For Laptops one way is to use the Fn Key + Print Screen. On my desk top that does not work. I have to use the Windows Logo key + Print Screen key. Apparently different computers react differently... sigh... Thank you on the Feathering.
