Thank you. I tried to get more colour back into the flowers, without success.

I tried to get more colour back into the flowers, without success. There are a few different ways to bring back colour whippet. Duplicate the image and mask layer and go to the blend modes and use ‘multiply’. If this is too strong reduce the opacity or using a brush at a lower opacity brush away some of the duplicated layer. Or you could go to your default brushes and choose a soft brush and brush over the mask on the flowers to bring back the colour. Another way is to select the image/mask layer in your layers panel and go to Enhance > Adjust lighting > levels and using the sliders adjust to taste.

This turned out to be both a challenge and a learning experience. I decided to do it in Photoshop CC but, somewhere in the evolution of Photoshop, Adobe decided not to include that Wet Media Brush in the default set but, after a bit of on-line research, I found out how to load what they now call the legacy brush set. So now I have the right brush but still not sure I have it set up the way it was shown in the video as there are way too many options in PS. My previous experience with brushes is simple, soft and round so when I start seeing options like setting the Brush Pose I panic! Maybe I need to take a lesson - if anyone has any suggestions please let me know as I'm a brush neophyte Anyway here's what I finished up with - not quite what I had in mind but it will have to do for now …
Thanks for the challenge - and it was Tony

Thanks for persevering Tony and triumphantly coming out of the other end of the challenge…lol. You may not have ended up with what you had in mind but I hope you are pleased with what you did end up with – and you have learned something along the way – always a bonus. That's part of the fun of these challenges (I think) . Not having the full PS I'm not the one who could advise you about the brushes or their settings I'm afraid. Perhaps someone else will chime in with some pointers in that direction to assist you.

I think that is brilliant, Tony. That is the sort of effect I wanted. Thanks for the extra information, Lillias, I shall add it to my tutorial. . . in pen and ink, of course.

This is terrific, Lillias! I am thinking you used the mask on the tiger and bush....correct? Your book looks great. How did you create the double font? Love it!

Yes I used the mask on the tiger but the bush is actually a tree png file which I put on the layer below the masked tiger layer. The double font is a free font from Dafont called Rough Linen.

Nice Helen. I'd love to sit in that rocking chair on the porch and just contemplate the world going by.
