The May 2020 Windows update is now available -- v.2004. Go to Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update> . . .
Both of my computers are now running this new version. So far so good! No problems!

Sepiana, it is encouraging to read that the Update caused no problems for you. There are uncountable complaints and problems about it to be found on Google.
Did you make any special preparations before you updated? Are Picture and Documents Folders preserved automatically or do you have to copy everything back from scratch?

Rita,
Before I installed this update, I cleared my browsing history, cleaned and optimized both disk drives -- OS(C:) and DATA(D:). I also made sure to back up all the Libraries (Pictures, Documents, Downloads, Videos, Music).
After the installation, I checked and everything was there as before. I even checked my .png files to see if they had reverted to a black background. No, they hadn't; they kept their transparent background.

Thanks Sepiana, I'll follow your example. Glad you are reminding me of the Downloads. I've never copied those before. Good idea.

I spent several hours on the phone with my internet provider & Dell. My computer could not keep an internet connection although the apple products we have could. I knew it wasn't the internet connection. Dell did a complete os reinstall, you know what that means - lost some items, had to reinstall LR & PS. I have delayed anymore updates from Windows, thank you!!

It keeps asking me to run it constantly just lately. But I haven't done so.

Will Microsoft force us to update? I read someplace that MS is still working to iron out all the bugs.
On my Laptop which is much older than my desktop the Update Page does not offer it and says "it is not yet ready for it". So it seems that the previous version will still be supported.

Dell did a complete reinstall of the operating system. I have delayed any updates from Windows until July 29th as that is as far out as I seem to be able to delay it. I have lost all confidence in Dell & Windows at this point.

blackmutt, what I am trying to find out is how Dell can install a Microsoft Update. You must have given it permission in same way.
I also have a Dell computer and would like to know how to prevent this from happening to me. Dell has never installed anything but its own updates up to now on my computer.

I have premium support and contacted them to figure out why my Apple products could connect to the internet yet my Dell laptop could not. After hours of back and forth they logged in to my laptop with my permission through dell support. I had to contact them again yesterday as it was still dropping the internet connection, they did some other driver work. Insisted that they had fixed it but it has dropped the connection a couple of times since. I emailed them and they responded with a request for in home repair. That is why I paid for the three years support! Figure I will have them meet me at my office when we can arrange it.
