Hi Lillias, I am sorry for any confusion on my part. As I stated in step 16 that you can add to the mask to make it "pop out". At the time that was the best title I could give this challenge. This is the alternate version that really pointed me in the direction of the title. It’s probably just me Frank. Not to worry. I realise it’s not always easy putting concepts into words, or at least I can struggle with that when doing tutorials myself. I will take you up on the use of your mask and see if I can do this properly. Thanks.

By George I think I've got it. Thanks for your patience and understanding Frank. This image isn't the best I know but it was the best I could find on the spur of the moment to test the process. Thanks for your contribution too Sepiana. Image from Pixabay.

It appears that everyone is getting the idea that there are a number of things that can be used to create a layer mask and get some very unique images. Staying with the baseball theme

Having fun (lots of it) with the alternate version of this effect. Who can resist The Call of the Pop-out? - Created the background with a texture by Jai Johnson (Watermelon Canvas) - Applied the Texturizer filter (Sandstone) - Applied a frame layer style by Jodi Frye. - Image from Pixabay.
