Sorry....forgot to post yesterday. Members submitting an image for this challenge are asked to offer a brief statement as to why they chose their image. Participants in the challenge have the option of presenting an edit with the photographer’s reasons in mind or instead presenting an image that reflects their own creative vision. The member submitting this image thought it would offer some challenging editing opportunities. 1. Participants in the challenge are asked to provide a screenshot of their edits within the RAW converter of their choice along with the reasons for their edits. 2. Following their initial edits members may use whatever “tools" they wish to create an image that portrays their artistic vision for the image as long as the character of the original image is not lost. 3. Including information on plug-ins, actions, external editors, textures, sky replacements etc that were used will only help to inform members of some of the creative options that are available to today’s photographer. 4. Including layer stacks may be something to consider when presenting a final edit. You have two weeks to participate in this challenge. It ends on Saturday, June 13th. At the end of the challenge the image creator will select their three favorite edits. Comments are restricted to complimenting another member's edit. This image should offer some wonderful opportunities for you to not only challenge your creativity; but to learn from the edits of the other participants. Have fun! That certainly is a RAW file that has lots of possibilities. Here's a first attempt where I used the following basic adjustments in LR, applied an adjustment brush to the sky to reduce exposure/highlights and add a bit of color and then did a saturation boost of the yellows to give it that daybreak look (or was it sunset?)! Will have to play some more - thanks for the challenge. Tony

Thanks for getting this started and remembering to include your RAW adjustments, Tony. Beautiful edit....like the golden mist weaving between the rocks and the way you have accentuated the light throughout the image.

Here is my first attempt. After applying the settings in Camera Raw as seen in my screen shot, back in PSE I replaced the sky with a sky from MixPixBox. Overlayed with a Studio Portrait Texture from MixPixBox and used Soft Light blend mode.

Tonyw - I agree with Helen. The golden mist enhances the lighting effect, and I like the texture in the rocks.

You have created such a tranquil scene, Lillias. It wasn't until I enlarged it that I saw the subtle hint of texture.
Living by the ocean, (but not with such an interesting coastline) I am often moved by the changes brought about by the time of day, seasons and weather conditions. The gradient suggests a cold evening atmosphere to me, Karen.
We are off to a great start for this challenge. I am looking forward to future edits.

Camera Raw Settings Cropped and leveled. Removed dark sensor spots. Added new sky and sun rays along with a number of local tweaks.

I had a feeling that this image would lend itself to a variety of editing choices. I especially like the way you handled the sun rays, Frank.

Great idea, Lillias! Undoubtedly, this wonderful jagged coastal scene has been attracting photographers for many years.

One more where I tried a sky replacement (from textures.com) and then tried to match the sky to the rest of the image. Lost track of what I did but along the way I used Topaz Restyle and ON1 Effects and popped back into the Camera Raw filter a couple of times. Not quite the look (or colour match) that I wanted but time to quit! I think I might have to try B&W … Tony

I hear ya, Tony. I am having a hard time trying to create a color version that I'm happy with. Thought of doing B/W as well. I think the image will look good in black and white. May not get to it for a couple of days as I'm working on a photo assignment.
