Thanks for the update Sepiana. Blake's videos are very helpful. I wish he didn't talk so fast. kdcintx, you are most welcome! He talks very fast but . . . he's very entertaining and goes out of his way to explain things. I have his Palette Effects and the files come with videos. Very helpful!

Look at this discussion in the Elements user to user forum: I have tested the workaround posted by Greg and I have been able to install the lastest version of ACR in PSE 2020. In the past, this procedure did work but made normal updates problematic later. Since I don't expect any update on PSE2020, there will be no problem...

I have just finished updating to ACR 12.4 in PSE 2020 (on two computers). It works just fine! As I have Photoshop CC, I didn't need to download the Camera Raw plug-in installer; I just did a copy/paste job of the Camera Raw.8bi file. I will add the link to that Adobe document to our sticky Adobe Camera Raw -- Resources thread.

I always have trouble with YouTube How To videos where one would think the guy was in some sort of talking race, spitting words out like a Gatling Gun. I got to tinkering around one day and stumbled on a setting that would allow me to slow their voices down - a lot, if I wanted to. I have found this to be very helpful in following along; of course, it slows down the video as well, which is often a huge advantage. You might be able to find such a setting on these videos as well. >>> On EDIT: I just checked it out and these are YouTube videos; click on the little gear icon and then Playback Speed; click on 0.75 and then to fine tune, click on Custom and it will provide a slider; I set it on 0.85 and it slowed him down a lot without going overboard. If you hear really fast, you can speed him up as well.
Thanks for the tip, BuckSkin. I'll give it a try.

Thanks for that Sepiana. Is there a way that I can convert my files to DNG as I import them into PSE? Adobe has a free DNG converter that you can run on a whole batch of RAWs at once; I advise setting it to not overwrite the original RAW files. I have lost confidence in DNG as, in my own experience, DNG does not have most of the real advantages of a RAW file. Free RawTherapee will edit/convert just about any RAW file out there and is a very powerful program; it would be a good alternative, especially for files not supported in other programs.

So if the latest ACR update doesn’t apply to PSE am I right in thinking that my version of PSE2020 still won’t recognize my NEF files from my Nikon D780 which as you probably know was released in January. Is there a way to import them as DNG files instead? Thank you kind people 🤗 Glad you came back here. There has been a new development since you posted this. You don't need to use the Adobe DNG Converter as suggested. You can install ACR 12.4 (latest update) in PSE 2020. Please see this post by michelb how to go about it. photoshopelementsandmore.com/post/72070I can confirm it. I updated to ACR 12.4 in PSE 2020 (on two computers). It works!

By the way when I’m opening Elements 2020 it says that it’s version 18 and that’s where I loaded Camera Raw 12.4 when following the instructions.

By the way when I’m opening Elements 2020 it says that it’s version 18 and that’s where I loaded Camera Raw 12.4 when following the instructions. This can be quite confusing! Adobe is no longer using sequential numbers to identify versions of PSE; the last version with this kind of identification was PSE 15. Now they are using the year -- PSE 2018, PSE 2019, PSE 2020. So, under the hood, . . . PSE 2020 = PSE 18.
