I went looking for benches today. Sadly someone had lost their entire set of keys (not to mention their nifty "Not Today Satan" lanyard.) A good Samaritan left them on the bench hoping for a happy re-union. Thanks for the theme Sepiana! Bill, you do have an eye for urban subjects and for an unusual viewpoint. My favorite is the 3rd shot -- a sort of "tunnel" view of the aligned benches (with a touch of beer). Hoping that set of keys found the way back to its owner!

I too went looking for benches this morning - in a less urban environment. This is half of the "teaching circle" in a natural area. In normal times it's regularly occupied by kids on field trips from local schools - but these haven't been normal times so it's been very quiet but still well maintained (and litter free!). Taken with an 8mm fisheye and cropped to remove the distorted bottom half of the circle. Thanks for the theme Bill and Sepiana - lots of possibilities this week. Tony Tony, this is an excellent use of benches -- a teaching circle. I like how you captured half of the circle and let us "visualize" the other half. Very effective composition!

These two benches are just across the road from our house. June 29, 2020 Our house is on the left in the background in the second photo. Clive, nicely done! I like how you used different viewpoints to shoot these two benches.

This bench in peaceful surroundings in our local park commemorates a former resident of the area who loved this spot and wanted other people to enjoy it too. Dennis Dennis, I really like how you composed your shot to include several layers of visual interest from foreground to background. This is an image worth going back to again and again.

One more - in black and white. Popular spot to sit and enjoy the view usually but maybe the sign about social distancing deterred people (I left that out of the picture!) Tony Tony, great B&W processing, with the playing of light and shadows. It's such a peaceful scenery!

Not my style but it is an unusual bench in my neighborhood kdcintx, I guess this bench has no functional purpose; it’s just a decorative item. Great job capturing its whimsical details!

Three from a visit to a local park today.... Helen, lovely natural setting for these benches. The 1st shot with the water reflections is an eye-catcher.

A community piano & bench Pete, not the kind of piano bench we usually see. Great job capturing its details and texture!

This bench comes with a superb view south over Surrey from the top of the North Downs - even better when you have toiled your way up on foot! Brenda Brenda, what a view! I really like how you included a human element (Matt) in your shot; it emphasizes . . . toiling one’s way up on foot. It makes us wish we were there to enjoy the view as well.

According to the dictionary, in the UK this is called a bench. I always know it as a worktop, and I believe in the USA it is a counter.
