Lillias, you have outdone yourself here. Love it! How did you achieve the Porcelain effect on the left? I have an old porcelain filter which unfortunately does not work with 64-bit, but it never made anything this perfect.

Lillias, you have outdone yourself here. Oh Rita I wish that were true. The image on the left is as it came from Pixabay I'm afraid so I can't tell you how the effect was achieved. Sorry!!

Rita this is not a porcelain effect but I thought it looked a fun way of applying your make up. It’s not a one click fix and takes a little practice but the end result can look great. You could also tweak it by duplicating the original image and using the multiply blend mode at around 40% opacity depending on the image etc; etc; I have just had a quick try at this technique and with a bit of patience it seems to me that you could replicate something akin to the image in my OP in this thread. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMUhTXT_QBw

ritage...Rita I must thank you for sending me down this road. I have really enjoyed it. This is my first attempt following ‘Infopuppets’ video tutorial and it was a learning experience but great fun. For my first attempt I didn’t want to overdo things so the colours here aren’t as strong or as bold as the image I was attempting to emulate. For those who may be interested...I started with a base coat of colour for the skin and built on that with the colours for the cheeks, lips and eyeshadow. Using separate layers for each, overlay blend mode for each colour layer, and also using HSL adjustment layers where necessary. I created a stamped layer and duplicated that and gave it a multiply blend mode at 20% opacity for the final result. I would say that this technique would probably be easier done using the likes of a wacom tablet but I managed this using a mouse, so it can be done without a tablet. both images from Pixabay

Terrific result, Lillias. I haven't had the time to look at the tutorials yet.

My first attempt. I used this tutorial, because I so hate to watch video tuts.
Does it look like porcelain or am I just fondly imagining that?

I’m new to this concept of porcelain skin and I’m not exactly sure what it’s supposed to look like so I turned to Google to search for some sort of reference as to the definition of porcelain skin. I found that it doesn’t necessarily refer to a skin colour or skin tone. It’s more to do with the fact that the skin is blemish free and smooth with even tones. Having said that, I read that in terms of complexion, porcelain skin is the whitest skin. That being the case I would say you have achieved that Rita. I can’t help feeling though that I would like to see just a touch more definition to say the cheek bone structure of the lady. But that’s just my own particular inclination. The link below is where I got this info from. www.finefeatherheads.com/what-does-a-porcelain-skin-tone-look-like-and-how-do-i-get-it/

Lillias, I think we have two separate concepts here. I was not thinking of skin tone at all, but of a piece of porcelain, a figurine. That is what your original looked like and what I found so impressive. It's also what that tutorial I used tries to do.
Your comment shows that I was not successful
And you are right, I went too far taking out definition.
I'm going to try to make some corrections. No more time today though.
BTW, the old Filter I had was really meant for things, I don't think I ever used it on a face. Maybe that was too ambitious.

Aaah I understand. Well in that case, figurines usually have a glossy/shiny finish to them so I think if you added a little colour to her cheek bones and some highlights to her forehead and down the front of her nose to emulate the light catching on the glossy finish it would be perfect.
Look again at the original and you will see little catch lights on the forehead and the side of her nose and a little bit on her chin. It’s all trial and error not to say a learning experience...
