The Chalk Effect was really nice; thanks for that Lillias ! In this challenge you will learn a very versatile watercolor effect from our old friend Davrodigital. He offers many nuances in this tutorial, but in these days of isolation you might be able to afford to kick back and try out this more extended but fruitful process. There are actually a few very reasonable stopping points along the way, but I get the sense that he is also in that mindset of "since I've got the time, let's see what else can be done here...". Here is the video tutorial: Watercolour effect Photoshop ElementsHere a link to some watercolor textures for you to use for this challenge and add to your collection of textures: Watercolor TexturesHere is my first go at it: I am very much looking forward to seeing your creative effect!

I agree, he does have some great ideas. Thanks for getting us started kdcintx ! I like all your colors. After I did my first one I wished the original had more colors in it.

Love your starter, Tom. Great subject, Karen! "since I've got the time, let's see what else can be done here...". Yep....that was me.........the watercolor texture I chose was variations of the same shade so not that colorful. Had fun with this, though.

BillieJean - I like the foggy look around the train. I completely agree, it is very painterly!

Tom, this is a great tut! It's very effective and opens the door for creative possibilities. - Applied a texture by Charles Perrault (Old Washed Watercolor Paper, Overlay blending mode, 100% Opacity). - Applied an Adobe Paper Texture Pro (Muscatel, Multiply blending mode, 50% Opacity). - Finished it off with the Texturizer filter (Canvas). - Image from Pixabay.

Tried another one....this is fun. But I'm not so sure I like the color overlay on the image. May go back to using a more neutral watercolor texture when I try this again.

Very sublime, Sepiana. Nice work. I like the colors. kdcintx, thanks for taking the time to comment on my entry!! You are very kind. I believe the colors are the result of using two textures, different blending modes and different opacities. The Adobe Muscatel texture was the one that made all the difference.

This time, . . . - Applied a texture by Deluzion (Dirty Blue Oilcloth, Overlay blending mode, 100% Opacity). - Applied a texture by Deluzion (Beige Brush Strokes, Multiply blending mode, 75% Opacity). - Image from Pixabay.
