Image from Unsplash Kit - Night of the Raven by Rosie H Designs Turned original image to B&W and used Filter>Poster Edges for a posterization effect. Also blended a sketch effect to the image for the end result.

Looks like you are limbering up for Halloween? Great composition. Thanks Rita but I'm sorry I'm not limbering up for Halloween, I'm one of those odd people who don't like Halloween...lol.

You seem to find just the right combination of images, is this a long process or do you begin knowing what you're looking for? Asking for a friend..

You seem to find just the right combination of images, is this a long process or do you begin knowing what you're looking for? Asking for a friend.. Oh gosh Jacki that’s quite a question...for which I don’t have a simple answer I’m afraid. Sometimes I start with an image and then look to build the page round that particular image, sometimes I will start with a background and then look for images that might fit in with that. Another way is to find a quote or a verse of a song etc; and then look for a way of depicting that on the page. I very seldom begin knowing what I’m looking for. Some pages come together quite quickly others can take days as they evolve. There is no particular logic or secret to it. You may have noticed that I do like to use effects or masks or both on images. Frames too with added clusters. It’s all in the eye of the beholder I guess. I began this page for example with the image from Unsplash. I had worked with this image before and had already given it some posterization. I wondered what else I could do with it and out of nowhere came the idea to make a kind of line sketch of it which I did and then blended that with the posterized image. Then I turned it to B&W just for a change as I usually prefer colour and then I clipped the image to a mask.
That done I turned to my folders of scrapbooking kits (gathered over the years) to see if I could find some items with which to complete a page. I thought the girl in the image had a kind of brooding thoughtful look and when I found ‘Night of the Ravens’ by Rosie and saw the word art ‘what secrets hide in the ruins’ it sparked something in the imagination and I got to work. There was a sketch of the ruined building in the kit and the other items are all from the same kit so it was a case of putting it together to make some sort of story appear in the page. I have to say right up front here that I am very much indebted to the designers who create the digital scrapbooking kits that folks like myself use. Without them...my artsy/scrapping world would be almost non-existent. All I can say is experiment, experiment, experiment. Look at what others do for inspiration. Throw stuff on the page and play around with it, you may be amazed at what you can do.

Thank you Lillias for explaining your work/creation methods. I really need to experiment more and look at what others have done for inspiration. I, too, have collected many scrapbooking elements over the years, but really need a better way of viewing them. I have this idea of re-creating my paper scrapbook pages from the early/beginning days into digital pages, the challenge will be fun I hope.
